the twelfth woodlanders embroidery pattern...

Woodlanders December Pattern

It's here...the last of the Woodlanders embroidery patterns! Kinda makes me sad, actually. Mind you, I haven't finished stitching all of these, so I still have that to look forward to.

You can download the Propitious Pine pattern in PDF format here, and if you've missed any of the 12 from the past year, find them in these posts or in the sidebar (at least for a while).

Aren't birch trees the most lovely things? Yes, they have been seen as a "trend" which means they supposedly lose their magic, but I think they should be here to stay. Actually, I've always loved them.

We used to have several in our front yard, and my grandpa has always had them in his yard. When I was little I loved peeling the papery bark. But then, apparently the trees in our yard were a bit impertinent. They went and died, just to mess with us!

Fear not! You can stitch up this birch log and it will be here to stay. Download the PDF pattern here.

Persevering Pinecone Pattern

I'm not wasting any time this month, so we're starting out nice and early with this next Woodlanders embroidery pattern. I have yet to stitch this Persevering Pinecone pattern, so hopefully I'll get a chance to see some of your work on this. You can add photos of completed projects (from this or other patterns of mine) to the Wild Olive Flickr pool.

Happy Monday!

the ninth woodlanders embroidery pattern...

Here is the newest Woodlanders pattern! The simplicity of this one makes this a quick stitch, which I love. So much, that I thought it would be a fun one to make into a hair clip. At least that was my plan. For now it's still an unfinished plan...

YIP2010 - 256

You can see where this is going though, right? I promise it will get finished and I'll show it to you. (Think fascinator.)

the eighth woodlanders embroidery pattern...

I wasn't sure that this was going to come to be, but it's here! And it's still August! If you look back at how Lady-Like Fern started out looking, and now how she looks here as an embroidery pattern, you'll definitely see a difference. Also when you compare the two, I'm sure you'll see why. The original design was not meant for stitching...at all.

But now you can stitch her up and still stay sane! The simple (but still frilly and lady-like) version can be downloaded as a PDF right here.

woodland quilt

Tiffany in Indiana sent me this photo of a baby quilt she made. Isn't it adorable? And see the two Woodlanders in there? I love it!

Diminutive Feather

Today I have another Woodlanders pattern for you: Diminutive Feather! Download it here or in the sidebar, and have fun stitching!

And when you're finished, you know, I'd love to see how you used this or any of my patterns. You can send me a picture (molliejohanson {at} gmail {dot} com), or add things to the Flickr pool. Even if you don't have anything to add, there are some really cute things there for you to check out. Stop by and browse!

a pattern for you...

Every time I think that I need to take a few days off from blogging, things come up and I am back at it. In this case, I realized that I had STILL not shared this month's Woodlanders embroidery pattern with you yet. How terrible of me!

I've not stitched it yet, but you can. Maybe take it with you while you head to your own Hospitable Cabin...

Download here, or in the sidebar!

the fifth woodlanders embroidery pattern (and more!)...

restless violet

I think that Restless Violet would be a lovely thing to stitch for a Mother's Day gift, don't you? Yes. Definitely. Download the pattern here, or in the sidebar.

But if you are thinking that you would like something that doesn't require stitching, I have another project for you. I was inspired by pressed flowers like these and these:

pressed flowers!

1. Pressed flowers, 2. 028 Pressed daisy bouquet, 3. Miss Bunny in her garden, 4. Untitled

Pressed felt flowers!

pressed flower

Super simple: download this pattern. cut out the pieces from felt. lay them on the backing for a tiny frame. add a few bits of floss for details and stem. carefully place the glass on top. close up the frame.

Seriously, I didn't even glue these things in place! The pressure from the back holds it all. I'm going to give this to my grandma for Mother's Day. Handmade for mom or grandma is always nice, don't you think?

the fourth woodlanders embroidery pattern...

Yes, this is a post containing the April Woodlanders embroidery pattern. I have not stitched it yet, so there is no pretty picture of it. But I don't want others to wait on the pattern any longer, just because I'm behind on stitching.

So, download the pattern here, or in the sidebar.

And now, a few other bits about today:

oyster stitch

After all of your encouragement yesterday, I tried the oyster stitch! The diagram was easier for me to follow than the written instructions, but if you're going to do this, I say, check out both. It wasn't too difficult. Really!

The one thing I struggled with was connecting them. I don't really like how they came out when I tried to chain them. Perhaps with practice? Otherwise, they'll just be used individually.

YIP2010 - 103

Also, I somehow managed to get all of the baseball illustrations/patterns done. Whoa! In the end, I have a ball, bat, mitt, home plate, cap, pennant, foam finger, bag of peanuts, hot dog, and my personal favorite, "Ice Creeeaaam in a Helllllmuuuut!" (you have to say it that way...)

Yay for new things to work on!

the third woodlanders embroidery pattern...

Antiquated Mossy Stone

I had really grand plans for stitching this. I thought that the moss part of Antiquated Mossy Stone would look fantastic if it was all stitched in french knots (like how Kristi stitched the Cherry Pie). But...well...that didn't happen. Instead I resorted to applique in some of my favorite green wool felt. I think it has a nice mossy feel to it.

This will soon be used for a project that I can use on spring walks. It's my way of being optimistic that spring is, in fact, coming soon. When this fun little items gets made, I'll share more.

For now, download the new Antiquated Mossy Stone embroidery pattern, and have fun stitching!

the second woodlanders embroidery pattern...

YIP2010 - 033

It's here! The next Woodlanders embroidery pattern!

I really love the red in Articulate Mushroom, and that's what you'll find as the color suggestion for the pattern...but I decided to try something different. Instead of using a variety of colors, I stitched in a color that would match my muslin. I love it! I thought this would make my little mushroom a bit more versatile, as I plan on making her into a hair clip of some kind. Red isn't often part of my wardrobe, so I'll be able to wear this with more.

Download your free Articulate Mushroom here, or in the sidebar. (And check out those new image links that I'm adding in...they'll be coming along more and more!)

stumped

Remember this embroidery from the fall? It was inspired by the pattern that I drew for my brother. And it has now inspired the Perplexed Stump that is part of the Woodlanders. They are all different, but still similar. They were probably from the same family of trees that someone came and chopped down.

Very sad.

Anyway, the pattern for the above embroidery is still available in my shop, but the new Perplexed Stump pattern that goes with the Woodlanders is now available here. For free! Enjoy!
