Just Stay Calm

A couple of weeks ago I shared some thoughts and feelings that have been on my head and heart, and you responded with such wonderful support. I want to thank you for that and let you know that things are okay around here. Not all better 100% positive happiness...but they're okay. And I'm okay with that.

I talked about the verse Exodus 14:14, and since then I've created a pattern with the words that I keep close:

The Lord Himself will fight for you. Just stay calm.

Just Stay Calm

When life overwhelms me (because it does sometimes!), knowing that God is taking care of things is the best reason and best way to stay calm. To quote the song, this is a blessed assurance.

If you're an embroiderer, you know that stitching can also have a calming effect, so pairing this scripture with embroidery is quite perfect I think. When I drew this pattern up, I decided to split it into two designs that work together. Use them together. Use them separately. It's up to you.

Just Stay Calm

I hope that stitching these words brings some peace into your life. It's something we all need more of.

  7. I really like this one--mostly because I am so terrible at practicing what it preaches! Might have to stitch this one and hang it by my desk. Do you have a favorite variegated thread?

    1. I'm not so good at this either! The floss I used here is Artiste from Hobby Lobby (I'm writing a review to share soon), but normally I use DMC Color Variations.

  9. I am really sorry that things have been hard for you. I am glad that you have been feeling better and I hope everything will continue to go that way. I am glad that there could be something art wise that is also a great reminder and special thing to you.

And, that you have shared it with others is also a wonderful gift too. :')

  10. Thanks SO much for this- I might have to make multiples to hang at strategic places in our home! I need to get back to embroidering, and these are perfect (although I need to get moving on my Spring Stitching Club, too!)
Thanks, Mollie, for sharing so much of yourself! May the Lord bless you abundantly for it!

  11. I love your embroirdery patterns, especially the scriptures! This is just what I have been looking for a young lady in our community, she became very sick and was near death and became the reciepient of someone's kidney. She is doing better now and our Sunday School class is making her a Sunshine basket. I am going to stitch this up for her. What size hoop would work 6 or 7 inch?

  15. What stitch did you use to make it look so thick? Also how many strands of thread? I LOVE it!!

    1. I used backstitch with six strands. The stitches flattened just a bit from pressing.

  16. I'm not a Christian, but I love the calming effect religion can have in one's life. I also have an anxiety disorder, so stitching myself a gentle reminder to "Just Stay Calm" is just what the doctor ordered!

The only problem now is what colors to use! :)

    1. I'd say to go for either your most favorite calming colors, or a color that jumps out at you and grabs your attention. It might not be calm, but sometimes we need a jolt to remember to take a breath.
