ornamentation: felt photo frame

Remember those curtain clips that I used to make an easy zig zag ornament with? They are back again today with a photo frame ornament that you and your child can make together!

Photo Ornament

Here's what you need:
Felt
Embroidery floss
Photo
Curtain clips (The ones shown here are from the drapery section at JoAnn's. They have cheaper ones in the jewelry section, or you can find them at IKEA)

Cut out two felt circles. Mine are about 3.5" across. From one of the circles, cut out a circle in the middle. Mine is about 1.5".

Thread a needle with embroidery floss, and let your child add some stitches. My brother PJ (who you see pictured) stitched these stars, but any stitching will work. Depending on your child's age and embroidery experience, you may need to help hold the felt circle.

Photo Ornament

Cut the photo to be slightly smaller than your large circles.

Sandwich the photo between the layers of felt, then stitch around the outside with a running stitch. This might be easier for you to do, depending on your child's age. I used matching thread, but a contrasting color would be nice too.

Clip the curtain clip on top, and your ornament is ready to go! This would most certainly be a treasured gift topper for a grandparent, don't you think?

If you've made this, or any other ornament, I'd love to see! Blog about it and link up! (Oh, and be sure to check out all of the lovely things that have been added to that page...you people have wonderful things to share!)
