Who doesn't love washi tape? The colors are great, and there are so many uses for it. But it's not exactly cheap, and so far, I've not found it locally. Enter this fantastic idea. Jenn at Good Look Cookbook made her own version for when you need something like washi tape, and you need it right away! I instantly knew I needed to try it, and thought you would too.
I used return address inkjet labels (the tiny ones). There were stashed away with other office supplies at my house, so I didn't even need to buy anything!
Instead of the patterns that Jenn found, I made my own. Actually, you may recognize these from some of the desktop calendars this year. They are in long strips that overlap the edges of the labels.
Now I've got tiny strips of custom pattern! (These hearts are my favorite...see them up there in my blog header?)
I folded them over some crochet thread for a teeny banner, plus I'll keep them handy for decorating envelopes, making cupcake flags, and generally making things pretty.
They were so much fun to make that I know I won't stop here. There are so many label sizes to try and patterns to create!
Download the pattern labels here.

ReplyDeleteThese are so fun!
ReplyDeleteI was using little address labels for my packages but switched to a custom stamp. However, I think I'll have to print some of these and then just stamp my stamp over top, they're just too pretty.
What a cute idea! These could be great for address labels as SewTara said. Or for a cute & easy addition to packaging for Etsy or other shops like that.
ReplyDeleteI need to print some of these soon - so cute! Thanks for sharing. :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea, I will definitely be trying this!
