The Pacific spirit of cartoons?
On Tuesday my family all went to the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. It's one of my favorite places in Chicago to visit. (Okay, so I actually like a whole lot of things in Chicago...this is a great place to live!) On our way in we saw a live size "The Suck-up" out on a sidewalk. It was a huge box with a real guy inside! Nearby were people who worked for Degree. Just another reason I love Chicago...
Anyway, at the Field Museum, I walked through thte Pacific Spirits section. It was being in a true "Tiki Room," even if it isn't the kitch tiki. I saw this one statue and had to sketch it. All I happened to have with was a notebook with lined paper, and I know now that I'll be bringing a real sketch book next time.
He actually looked this much like a cartoon. I love him! I think he'll be the inspiration for something fun. Not sure yet, but look at him! He's perfect!
An uphill battle?
Guilty pleasure: Iron Chef?
Sure it's a little cheesy, but this cooking competition can be really fun!
Spell Check?
So when I decided to go back and take some more classes, and perhaps continue my education, I thought I should at least get a copy of my degree. You know, that way it feels a little more official. So I get it, they put it in a nice folder, and I'm on my way. But on closer inspection, I notice something. My degree with a focus on desktop publishing has a typo. A TYPO! It reads "Desktop Pubilshing." PubILshing! What does it say about your college if they can't spell your degree correctly? How embarrassing.
Illustration Friday: Ambition?
It's been a few weeks since I did anything for Illustration Friday, so I thought it was about time that I got back to at least creating something. For this week's theme of "ambition," I went with The Tortoise and The Hare. That tortoise was pretty ambitious, yes?
And perhaps this was a little too ambitious for me. Using this technique didn't turn out exactly as I would have hoped. I didn't have time to give it extra attention, so it's sorta so-so. And sure, I could find some time and work on it more, but I'm thinking that I may use that time and try another technique. Something more like my peas or my flower. Yeah. That's my plan.
