printable // coloring love banner
There are hearts and flowers everywhere you turn, so it must be time for Valentine's Day coloring and crafts! Kids of all ages (as in, teens and adults too!) will love this free printable project. It's simple to make and a fun way to display your art.
The basic idea of this hearts day project is a love-themed coloring page, but instead of just sticking it up on the fridge, you actually make it something you can hang on the wall. By printing it out on cardstock and adding a beaded hanger it goes from basic to banner in no time at all.
I think it's a great way to honor the art that kids make, but it's not just for kids. Anyone who has slowed down and spent time coloring knows how enjoyable it can be. By turning it into a banner you get to enjoy it a little longer. And when the season is over you don't have to keep your coloring. You can just snip off the hanger and reuse the beads!
You will need:
Card Stock
Hole Punch
Glue Stick
Yarn or Ribbon
Pony Beads
Crayons or Markers
PRINTABLE LOVE BANNER PDF
TIP: If you want to get fancy with your banner project, use extra-heavy card stock or watercolor paper and paint the design!
Print out the banner page on card stock. You can start by coloring your banner, or leave it to the end as I did. There's no right or wrong here!
Fold the top of the page to the back. I folded mine about 1 inch. This helps give some stability at the top when you add the hanger.
Punch two holes in the top folded portion. If I were doing this again, I'd probably make them a little farther apart.
Rub a bit of glue stick on the folded flap.
Cut a piece of yarn or ribbon that's about 15 inches long. Tie one end through one of the holes.
Thread some beads onto the yarn. You can use as many or as few as you want, as long as there's enough yarn or ribbon left to tie the other side.
I didn't completely fill the string on mine, but there's still enough to make it fun. Finish this part off by tying a knot through the second hole.
All that's left is to color it in!
Okay, I lied. All that's left is to hang it up and enjoy your banner!
I really like that this is something you can make for Valentine's Day, but it isn't only for Valentine's Day. Love is a good idea any day of the year!
Happy coloring and happy Hearts Day!
