stitch love // dmc floss colors
Nineteen. That's the number of colors I used for stitching the embroidery section of my book Stitch Love: Sweet Creatures Big & Small. For a while, I practically had the list memorized, as I kept running out and needed to buy more. As I kept stitching and stitching, and never ever using purple. Strange how that happened...it wasn't planned!
But to learn how I did choose this palette of colors (including a list of the DMC numbers) AND to enter to win a copy of Stitch Love, along with a fabric and floss bundle, head over to DMC Threads. The giveaway ends on Friday, February 6, so hurry!
The list of floss colors for Stitch Love will remain, so you can pick up those skeins and start stitching!

ReplyDeleteHey Mollie!!
ReplyDeleteI love your work!! So much. Anyways I have been awaiting the arrival of Stitch Love (yay!! so excited!). I was wondering what basic supplies I will need for the book. I plan to get the embroidery colors listed, fabric and some felt. What do you recommend? Is there anything I am missing?
Thanks you so much, I can't wait to get started!!
Anna
Thanks, Anna! You've got the basics. Do you have an embroidery hoop? That will be important. Some of the projects are going to require some other supplies, like stuffing, twill tape/ribbon, etc., but it would be best to pick those up as you need them. When you get started, I'd love to see the things you make!
DeleteI have an embroidery hoop. What fabric/felt do you recommend? :)
DeleteI usually work with quilting cottons and linen. The linen I buy is from JoAnn and can be found in with dressmaking linens and linen-like fabric for about $18/yard (use a coupon!). I usually buy felt from BenzieDesign.etsy.com
DeleteMollie, your book just arrived today, and I can't get over how wonderful it is! I just love it! Congratulations!
