the pleasant process of somerset hexagons

Somerset Hexies

Sometimes it's nice to start making something without an end plan in mind. That's what I did with these hexies. I just started making them. Looking at each fabric and working with them and stacking them all up? It was just wonderful. The process was enjoyable.

What will they become? I really don't know. A pillow seems most likely, but that doesn't quite thrill me, so we'll see. For now, they just make me happy.

I will say, the fabric itself contributed to the enjoyment. This is called Somerset, and it's coming out this fall from Moda.

I'm a crocheter and there is a lady who does stuffed animals made out of crocheted hexies. I don't usually sew but maybe you could do something like that? A patchwork hexagon teddy?! Yes please!

  2. Love the fabric! And the poster above has a great idea for a patchwork hexagon teddy! That would be fantastic and I would totally love to make one for my son if you had a tutorial for it *hint hint* ;)

  3. That fabric is so lovely! I can't wait until it comes out in the fall! And I agree with the two comments above - a hexie teddy sounds so cute! A laptop sleeve or iPad case would also be pretty cute.

  5. I saw a very cute hexagon elephant stuffed animal tutorial somewhere… now I can't remember where. But… I'm sure you could find it with some google research. A teddy bear would be adorable too :)

My first thought was that I'd make this into placemats - because I like to have something pretty to look at during dinner.
