project // easy, lazy, eco wrap

Easy Lazy Eco Wrap

I love wrapping gifts in kraft paper, especially when it's fast and easy. Now, this wrapping method isn't going to impress anyone, so save it for when you make a small quilted gift for someone who already loves you.

And I say that it's good for quilty gifts because it uses the kraft paper wrap that comes rolled around Warm & Natural batting. When I buy this batting they always ask me if I want the wrap, and I say yes. If for nothing but sketching on (kraft is so fun to draw on!), I like to put it to use. Besides, it says right on there to recycle!

But I digress. So, you'll need some kraft paper, preferably from your batting. You'll also need some colorful tape, like this washi tape.

Fold the paper and tape the edges so it forms a sort of envelope pouch. I put the print on the inside of mine.

Slide your quilty gift inside.

Tape the flap shut.

Now, think about how clever you are for wrapping a quilted gift inside a quilt wrapper, taking hardly any time or effort at all, and re-purposed some wrapping at the same time! Also, try not to feel too bad if your mom is not too impressed by your wrapping and misses the "theme" you were aiming for. She'll still know that it's what's on the inside that counts.

  1. What a clever way to reuse paper! I kinda think it would be equally nice to use the printed side of the paper too. To give it a little pattern. Love this!

  2. Kraft paper is the *best*. I even wrapped my journal with it. :) And we have a whole roll of thick brown paper that I use whenever an old paper bag won't cover whatever I'm trying to wrap.
