straining

Fabrics...Just waiting...

My family considers me to be someone with a fairly even temper (until I'm really, really pushed to the edge), but lately I've felt like I'm on a bit of a mental/emotional roller coaster. I can probably attribute this to a variety of factors in my life, perhaps the greatest of which is my to-do list.

What is ironic about this, and what makes this relevant to this blog, is that my list is made up almost entirely of things that I love and that I'm excited about. Which of course makes it difficult to figure out which things I should consider eliminating. And so I get overwhelmed and head toward depression...until I get excited about them again. Hence the roller coaster. Can you relate?

That stack of fabric pictured represents four or five project ideas that want to start, but I'm a wee bit paralyzed by it all. Or perhaps that's just the feeling you get as cart strains its way to the top of the coaster, and I'm about to zoom through with exhilaration!

Only time will tell, but for now I'll stitch a little here and there to keep straining forward to what lies ahead.

    1. The only thing that helps me when I get like this and believe me I am there alot these days with my health and my marriage is to just pick up my Bible and read Psalms 34. There is just something so soothing about meeting with Jesus at His feet that makes everything else seem like its nothing any longer. Course, my bloggy friends are a huge help so if ya just need a listener I'm here

  2. I totally get it! I'm the same way and I've yet to figure out how to break the cycle. I do like you, though. I just stitch along slowly until something gets me moving.

  3. I sure do understand. When you posted that "Christmas happened" I had a feeling you were in a down mood. It does get better although at times it takes longer than we want. My dad passed away three days before Christmas so I was right there in the dumps with you.

    Hugs,

  4. Yes, Mollie. I understand completely about what it feels like to be on an 'emotional' roller coaster where you do not know where the top of the ride is. Keep your chin up. :)

  5. I make a list of all the projects I want to do and then just start at the beginning each day. As I find things I want to do I add them to the end of the list. When I think about the projects I want to do I don't stress any more I just think oh I'll get to it it's on the list lol. Funny thing is some things even drop off the list as they don't look as good as I thought at the time lol. I also make sure I have one hour each day for my projects even when working full time. Don't pressure yourself too much, your work is beautiful just have fun with it

  7. HUGS!! I've had those feelings over and over, as I struggle with depression. Crafting helps me so much - but when it's your 'job' - I'm sure it is different. Take your time - and, most importantly, take the time for YOU!

  8. i set one day a week to one side to sew. There is no set day, no set time, no set project. i just have that day so if I set up my sewing machine, sort my material and maybe stitch a seam or two then I have achieved my object.
Sometimes I set the machine up and then put it away again ...
Slow and steady always wins the race.
