pattern: let go (of your kite)

I rather like the idea of being a kite flying freely through the clouds. There's a sort of romanticism to it. And just as lovely a thought is the idea of letting go of a kite and having it fly away. So that's what this embroidery pattern is about. Letting go. Being free.

If you want to keep that very happy picture of a kite soaring without ties, stop reading now and download the pattern. It's about to get all deep and thought provoking...and the kite may stop flying. In a good way.

Have you ever let go of the kite string? What actually happens? A kite needs tension and wind to keep it flying, so if you let go, it comes down to the ground and you're reunited with your kite. The wind may keep it going for a short while, but not very long.

In a similar way, I've been thinking about how there are some things in life that cause tension. Like a kite, if you let it go, the tension is released, and you may just be reunited with what's on the other end of the string. It seems counter intuitive, but it can work.

Just a few thoughts that I've been mulling about as I've been drawing kites...

  8. This pretty little kite came at a sad moment in my life. Almost a year later, I'm still grieving a miscarriage. After seeing this sweet pattern and reading your words, I felt God telling me it's time to let go and fully move on. And in the process, I'm going to make a quilt (one that I would have made for my son's first birthday) and I plan on using this pattern on it somewhere. Thank you creating such uplifting little patterns. :)
