for my google reader friends (and everyone else!)

Wild Olive Snap

In case you missed the uproar last week, Google Reader will be shutting down this summer. So sad. Google cited a drop in use as part of the reason for this, and I kind of believe it. Unfortunately, I'm not able to spend as much time reading blogs these days, so my Reader feed always has close to 1000 unread posts in it. But still, I want to have those feeds available when I have time to catch up here and there!

A while back, I started using BlogLovin' for some of my favorite blogs, and that's where I'll be moving my own reading to. The nice part about this service is that it lets you read posts on the blog itself, which means you see not just text and photos, but the personality that each blog has. Sweet!

For those of you who follow Wild Olive on Google Reader (I know there's a lot of you!), I hope you'll continue to follow after Reader goes away. Please consider changing over to BlogLovin'. You can easily import with just two clicks by visiting this page.

  1. I already have! And I think Bloglovin' is much more convenient for leaving comments and being able to interact with blogs. I was really sad when Google Reader anounced they were closing the service, but I am slowly getting used to Bloglovin' (and lovin' it!)

  2. I just switched last night - reading via blog lovin now! (My reader always has 1000+ too so I hope to make it a priority to read a few more each day!)

  3. I switched to BlogLovin a few months ago, after Google Reader kept adding back blogs I had deleted from my feed. Found you via Bloglovin, though, so it was a happy change.

  4. I'm so sad too!
I'm giving Feedly a try... we'll see if it's a good Google Reader replacement!

  5. All of this has prompted me to get a blog reader in the first place, and funny enough I just signed up to Bloglovin and added your feed last night. I'm already loving the service and glad that it counts as hits towards the site I love. b.x

  8. Thank you for your post. I was feeling devastated when I saw that Google wasn't going to support its Reader any more and I wasn't sure what I was going do to. I just switched to Bloglovin' and it was SO easy! Thanks!

  9. I was out of the country (it was just 10 days!) and away from my computer, and was so surprised when I got back to discover that google reader was GONE! Somehow, I had seen nothing in advance. I quickly found bloglovin and here we are! Happy to find old friends here :-)

  10. I switched to Feedly - it imports the blogs I follow via Google Friends Connnect (they are not teminating that - thankfully). But I have also followed a few blogs on Blog Lovin the last year or so.. I'm crossing T's and dotting I's to make sure I don't miss out on anything =)
