the story of: the wind in the willows
The Wind in the Willows is a delightful tale, and really, it's not just one story, but a collection that is rolled into one. Mole, Rat, Toad and Badger are the main characters, along with some terribly terrible weasels. There's more story than I can tell here, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite movie versions instead.
The first is animated, and is the first part of a full movie. It is completely charming, and I highly recommend watching all of the parts.
This next opening scene is from a more recent film which features live actors playing the roles. Another similar (slightly older) version features John Cleese, Eric Idle and other Monty Python favorites, but I rather like this new one.
A bit of trivia that I recently learned: A. A. Milne (of Winnie the Pooh fame) was the one who adapted the book into a play, which certainly influenced these screen versions!

I used to watch the tv show. It was a childhood favorite! Thank you for reminding me about it. I am so excited for this month!

Like Ruby above, I used to love watching the tv show series also. It does not appear to have lost it's charm through the years, as both my punkies absolutely love watching the show on dvd now, and love listening to us read the book versions - like Winnie the Pooh, they are entranced by the hand-drawn aerial maps on the end papers :)
ReplyDeleteI love that original version, I want to get a copy of it for my kid(s). Thanks for sharing!
