There's a new header, with links underneath to the main sections of the blog. Plus some social media buttons. I'll miss my little Olive, but she's still around on things. For now I like the embroidery in the the works.
My main column is wider, and there's only one sidebar. The extra items have moved, and there are now links that lead you to my friends and favorites, plus other ways to connect. I'll continue to add to those pages, and there may be a few more that show up too. Right now, I like that the main page is becoming cleaner.
Along with those other things are some fresh new blog buttons. Which you can also download here:
If you follow me on Twitter, you may have seen me freaking out a bit the other day when my new fonts weren't working. I set up the fancy post titles (and a few other things) with a font from Kernest. It seemed simple, but code sometimes really messes with me, and this was one of those times. I'm quite tired of code now, but I think I've finally gotten the fonts how I want them.
This wasn't a big planned makeover, but just something that I suddenly got the urge to do. And when that happens, I fiddle around over time. Now I think I'm pretty close to leaving this layout for a while. We'll see...
(By the way, that little heart embroidery in a hoop is going to be in a new collection that will be coming to the shop soon. She was in the Blog Buddies Calling Cards, but more Blog Buddies are coming! I'm excited!)
Like the new style. I'm taking a button, too!
ReplyDeleteooooOOOOooooOO I love it!!! blog makeovers are so fun!!
ReplyDeleteI did take the button, but the code does not seem to work. The code changes when I save it to my sidebar and the widget will not display. Tried the others and they do the same. Not sure if it's som, ething I am doing wrong, just thought I'd let you know.
ReplyDeleteStealing a button! I love the new look! Great job Mollie!
ReplyDeletei love the new look and I have been thinking that I need to do some of the same adjustments on my blog (wider main column, switch from three to two column, tab bar on top...) BUT I have to learn from scratch as I don't know anything about blog design! Yours looks really pretty!
ReplyDeleteI like simple looks! I love the embroidery hoop heart, it's super cute :)
ReplyDeleteOH! I love the embroidery heart. Just so you know - your centered images in this post weren't properly formatted by Google Reader's mobile version. :( That's how I read all my blogs too...
ReplyDeleteThank you Annika! See? The code was messing with me again! It's all fixed now.
ReplyDeleteNathalie, most of it was easier than I was expecting. The nav bar was my proudest accomplishment, and with DreamWeaver, it was a breeze!
Kate, I think the centered images could be due to the table they are in. I've never used a table on the blog, but it was the quickest way I could get the buttons to line up across, instead of in a vertical list.
Let me know if anything else is looking strange...I really appreciate the extra eyes!
Wow! I'm lovin' the new look! Very clean, cute, and fresh! I love it! :) P.S. I grabbed a button. :)

Very clean and crisp looking nice job Mollie.
ReplyDeleteIt look very pretty! I hope we haven't see the last of that crazy little olive critter though =) x
ReplyDeleteYeaah! I am back to say that you totally motivated me to work on my blog and I have a question for you (if you don't mind sharing): how did you get your followers widget onto a (static) page (I think that is what you connect tab is?) = I love it! TIA!
ReplyDeleteNathalie: Yay! First, I set up a blogger page (which is my "connect" page) , then I went to http://www.google.com/friendconnect and clicked on my blog. From there, I clicked on "add the members gadget".
ReplyDeleteOn that page you can set up your gadget however you want, and they give you the code. I just pasted that code onto my "connect" page!
