Let's talk for a moment about family size. I'm part of a big family, or at least what many people refer to as a big family. There are six kids, for a total of eight people who live at our house. This does not seem like a lot of people to us, because we're used to it. When I cook, I cook lots of food, and have a hard time with small quantities. To me, this is normal.
Now, I know that we are different from most families, but is it so strange to have this many people in a family? Is it crazy that most family-size packages will barely take care of half of us? Perhaps. But I'm good with that.
Now, tell us about your family. Are there a lot of you? Or just a couple?
There's a lot of us :) We have 5 children and love it!! (and a cat and 2 puppies just to add to the mix!)

ReplyDeleteMom, dad, two other sisters & an "adopted" sister (one of my good friends) living with the fam...so six when we're all home from college!
ReplyDeleteI'm the 4th of 8 children, plus my grandmother lived with us from before I was born until she died when I was 17, so that made us a family of 11. Of the 8 of us, 6 of us are married and have this many children in order: 11, 14, 3, 4, 11, 7 ...I'm the slacker with only 3 children!

he he - right now, it's me & mister husband, but I have a one-year younger sister and then our parents *both* remarried, so I have one younger brother one each side (8 & 12), and then my sis has a little guy who's 5. lol. Complicated? A little. That makes 9 of us altogether, but of course we're not under one roof. :)

ReplyDeleteWhen I lived with my dad there were 5 of us - Dad, stepmom, stepbrother, sister, and me. When I lived with my mom there were 4 of us - Mom, stepdad, sister, me. But now I'm engaged and count myself as family with my fiance, so it's just 2 of us.
Right now it's just the 4 of us. Myself, the hubs, and our 2 children. We are praying for more though! We are in the midst of adopting right now as a matter of fact!
ReplyDeleteIt started with the "original five" then a couple of us got married. Then there were seven. I love my family they are my very best friends. We hang out on the weekend, vacations, church. Basically everywhere. I am so blessed that God gave me such an awesome group of people "to do life" with.

ReplyDeleteI thought it would be two in an empty nest,but the babies now have their own mates and babies and our family has grown - we spend several days a week together - 13 in all
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have a 2-year-old, so our family is pretty small, but we are house-parents for Florida Baptist Children's Home, and so our "family" also includes 6 foster boys!
ReplyDeleteI have a small family. The Beard, the Bird, and I. I come from a small family. Parents, Brother, Me. But we are from a large family: 60+ cousins and all the Aunts and Uncles and everyone else to boot. I prefer to keep it small. I do better in intimate settings :)
