lazy gift wrap

YIP2010 - 343
I'm already feeling a little better, because I at least have one gift finished and wrapped! Although as the post title says, I think this is lazy wrapping. Simple and pretty (I think, anyway), but lazy.

This is a paper lunch bag, wrapped with crochet thread. The tags are a printable that I ordered from Hello Clementine (love them!), and then I added a wooden disc which I painted and punched with my Crop-a-Dile.

I didn't even use tape.

My plan is to wrap all of my gifts this way. And if they won't fit in a paper bag, I'll default to kraft paper. And actually the no tape thing really comes from my love of a scene in Sense and Sensibility, where Elinor is wrapping a gift. Of course there's no tape involved so the tie has to hold the paper in place. I think it's quite romantic.

But is this cheating? I hope not.

  3. You're so cute. I've been blogging my Christmas wrapping adventure too. Our packages look similar- I'm using kraft paper and ribbon, yarn or embroidery floss depending on the size of the package. I'm using my collection of Japanese washi tape, though. Perhaps not as romantic... but fun! :)

  4. Love it! And that tag is adorable!!! Much cuter than the bad target gift wrap I've been fighting (but then again I'm a huge paper snob)!

  8. i think wrapping with tape is much easier than the beautiful wrap job you're doing. it takes lots of skill to get that package just right so you can tie it closed. lots harder than just ripping off a piece of tape. i love it!

  10. All my gifts are wrapped in craft paper... but i had issues with the cheap tape sticking on the package. Maybe i'll opt to you your route. Something so cute about it!

  11. So, so pretty - and definitely not cheating! Brown paper packages are always beautiful to me. :)

Thanks so much for linking back to my tag, too. I'm thrilled you like them, and even happier to see them being put to such wonderful use.

Each year my kids gifts from my sister arrive in plain wrapping paper, no tape, held together with yarn. She lives 600 miles away. The first glimpse of that yarn starts the waterworks. Something so sweet about it. I miss her.
