crocheted stripes...

crocheted stripes

1. Granny stripes 2, 2. Crocheted stripe rug, 3. The Granny Stripe, 4. crocheted blanket, detail

The other night I got to thinking about my list of goals for this year. Almost all ten have come together in one form or another, but there is one that I'm having doubts about. The jumbo granny square blanket. You see, I started, but ran into a yarn issue. And now, there isn't much time left in the year, with still many other crafts to craft.

Will I accomplish this goal? I don't know, but I will say that these lovely (Thursday!) stripes are certainly inspiring me to give it my best...

  1. I've made a granny stripe blanket and a giant granny square blanket! My favorite blog for inspiration and tutorials is Attic24! http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/

I --L-O-V-E the colors on the first one "Granny stripes 2", they just shocked me!

I have a suggestion for your project. Although granny square blankets are a very easy and portable project, it takes longer to finish it than making a striped blanket, because you need to change the yarn color every 2 rows or so when making a square, and also because when you've finished all the squares you still have to put it all together. So believe me (I've tried it myself), if you're looking for a fast-paced-super-easy project, stripes are the way to go.

Love your blog, Mollie. Good luck with the blankie!

    Cheers from sunny Costa Rica!

  4. Oooh - pretty, pretty! :) Good luck finishing it! You can do it. :) I crochet a lot while watching (listening?) to movies..lol. Or I head outside if it's nice and sit on a blankie and play with my yarn, there. I can't wait to see it!
