lightning bugs...

These days, I hear people mention fireflies, and of course, they are so magical. But I always remember referring to them as lightning bugs. And I remember how amazed I was when I found out that they are not found in many parts of the world. They have always been part of summer, and spotting the first lightning bug of the year, or even the night is such fun!

So...yesterday, I bought some of this:

it glows

And I used it to stitch these:

YIP2010 - 178

(They are made with a french knot for the head, and detached chain/lazy daisies for the wings. Then I satin stitched the body freehand with the glow floss, and at the same time I was stitching this, I was attaching the felt piece to a bobby pin. Easy peasy!)

hair pins

Now I can have glowy lightning bugs in my hair! I've made two so far, but I think I need more...
