inspiration (and relaxation) // disney world
Greetings from Disney World! Well, actually, I'm back home now from a family vacation filled with inspiration and relaxation. Disney World is my favorite place to go, and this recent trip was confirmation of that. Take a look at a few of my favorite things from this trip, and next week I'll show off a few of the special details that are sure to make their way into my work...
Before we left for Orlando (we drive from Chicagoland!), I made a couple of tops for myself, plus a new purse/tote. This is my one and only self-portrait...and I'm wearing my own handmade!
The previous photo was taken in line for "it's a small world", and here's the end of the ride. Seriously, this never gets old for me. I'm pretty sure I could ride through "the happiest cruise that ever sailed" all day long and not even mind the music playing over and over. I get so engrossed in the scenery that I hardly hear the song!
While in the Magic Kingdom we played Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom (if you're planning a visit, check it out...it's free and lots of fun!). One of the "portals" was set in hexagon flooring, so I had to snap a pic!
It's all so magical...
Of course, we visited Animal Kingdom and while we were there we met up with a family that we connected with online. The Tree of Life and all that this park has to offer were great, but meeting new friends was our favorite part of the day.
I love Epcot for its ambiance, and the Flower and Garden Show were running while we were there. It was amazing to see movie characters (these are from Fantasia) come to live in a whole new medium.
And in all of Epcot, this is the place that I could sit all day. It's in The Land, and the globes, streamers and amazing light have me smitten. Plus, they play the soundtrack from the movie Emma!
While I was there I spotted a few things that match up with the Fiesta Gato from this month's blog theme. Papel picado (with Donald Duck and friends!) in the Mexico pavilion and a super cute kitty fan in the Japan pavilion. I'm kicking myself for not buying the fan.
Last, but not least, I made a point to demonstrate how the cool kids ride a landspeeder, while still being a lady. Leia should take note!
Getting back to "real life" is proving a slow process, but let me tell you...Disney World was just what this girl needed! When can I go back?

Oh, I'm so jealous! :) I love these pictures. Disney World is one of my favorite places, too...it really is magical. We've been twice, but the last time we went was in 2009 and I'm itching to go back!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Disney World/Land and Small World is my favorite. We took Evie to Disneyland and I was so glad she liked Small World, we rode it twice without getting off! The one at Disneyland is extra cool because they added in different Disney characters.
ReplyDeleteI'm always just so in awe of the design and all the thought that went into planning every single aspect.
I have a few friends that work down at the parks and hopefully we will get there soon to visit! I'm glad you had a great trip!
I went to Disney World last year and didn't have much fun. Adventure Kingdom and Universal Studios were a lot more fun to me, but I'm glad to see that Disney World hasn't lost it's magic for some.
ReplyDeletelooks like a fantastic trip! I love Disney World. the Japan section of Epcot is always so cool. :)

Postcards!! Thanks for the lovely treat in my mailbox. I still have never been to any Disney park. I always said I'd just wait until I had kids but...
ReplyDeleteMaybe next time I'm in Tokyo, I'll make Naoto take me ;-)
