snapshot: lunching for relaxation
Yesterday, my sister and I went out for lunch.
It has been months since we did this, because I was busy, she was busy, I was busy again. Mind you, we live in the same house, but going out is different. In fact, I'm still busy, and wasn't sure that I wanted to go. When I get overwhelmed, it's easy for me to get depressed, though, so I went. And I took some of the stitching that NEEDS to be done with me.
We did a little shopping first, and as I walked through a few stores, all I could think about was the work waiting for me at home. And then it started to melt away. By taking time away from my work, time to relax and chat with my sister...my friend, I felt more at peace. We ate lunch, and I never even pulled that stitching out of my bag.
I need to do this more often.

As my husband likes to say, "You have to pull the bow back to send the arrow further." Cheesy but his way of helping me to take time for refreshing things and not always working.
ReplyDeleteYes, you do need to do this more often! Taking well deserved breaks will make work better. And how you feel towards it!
ReplyDeleteMollie, not only does taking some time off relax and de-stress the body, it also serves to make us more productive. I think it's because taking a step back allows us to see around all of the 'trees' and focus on the 'forest'. There is a REASON one feels stress. It's the body telling us to slow down and relax. :) I hope that makes sense! xoxo
ReplyDeleteMollie,
ReplyDeleteI agree with all of the above! I too tend to turn down invites but am always SO happy when I do go - it gives me a fresh perspective.
And that salad looks awesome!
