a giveaway with a bang
Last year, there were fireworks (the pretty kind!) when I stitched up these three hoops for Mollie Makes' digital magazine, Gathered. They were in honor of the UK holiday, Bonfire Day, and now the hoops have come back to me, just in time for Independence Day!
This is a quick project to stitch up, and you can find the patterns and tutorial in issue 3 of Gathered. Just download the Gathered by Mollie Makes app from Apple Newsstand, then purchase the individual issue (only $1.99!), or subscribe. It's one of my most favorite reads, and I'm so glad I signed up for a whole year!
To help spread the illumination celebration, I'm giving away these finished hoops to one lucky reader! This is going to be a short giveaway (it ends tomorrow night!), so that I can mail these and have them arrive by July 4th. In keeping with that, this giveaway is only open to US residents.
Enter below using Rafflecopter, and please, please don't start sining Katy Perry as you do. In fact, if you're looking for a comment idea, maybe you'd like to share another favorite fireworks song? Good luck!

Well you knocked off the only Fireworks song I could think of, haha!
ReplyDeleteI think of those wildly patriotic songs that accompany firework displays. The 1812 Overture is one of my favorites. I now have the sudden urge to spread a picnic blanket on a hillside. Thanks for starting my day with a bang!
ReplyDeleteObviously, I'm out of the music loop, I had to look up the Katy Perry fireworks reference! So, no one will be surprised that I love the traditional Star Spangled Banner for fireworks music.
ReplyDeleteAmerican Girl by LL Cool J. That songs takes patriotism to new levels.
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that I'm not able to find better previews of what lies behind the cover of Gathered or Mollie Makes. For example, I can't find any indication that your lovely firework patterns are included in the latest issue aside from a very generic promise of "embroidery hoops." The magazine does not sell itself well or the interface is flawed in my non-apple browser :(
ReplyDeleteMaybe because its a smaller digital magazine they want to show less? Issue three with my hoops (plus a chalkboard project, pinwheels, and a bunch of non-project articles) is the one with the pinwheels on the cover.
Deleteok Katy Perry is stuck in my head now LOL!! Thanks for that...and the giveaway :)
ReplyDeleteI don't know any fireworks songs! Not even the Katy Perry? one. For some reason though I always think of Go Tell it On The Mountain when I think of summer and celebrations and Hooray! (even though it's a Christmas song).
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I have a favorite fireworks song. I know the Tagically Hip have a song with fireworks in the lyrics and Taylor Swift did one but she called it sparkle pop, or something like that. Cute embroidery!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know any fireworks songs but I did find this (see link below). Thanks for the chance on the giveaway!

My husband loves the Katy Perry song and sings it all the time so it has a special place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteI love disneyland fireworks set to disney songs!
ReplyDeleteThe only one I can think of would be an old Martina McBride song called Independence Day. I can't even remember if it mentions fireworks.
ReplyDeleteThe oneI know if from my kids preschool - to the tune of I'm a little teapot -
ReplyDeleteI'm a little firework
Up in the sky.
I dance and I shimmer
Way up, up high.
Sometimes I'm red.
Sometimes I'm blue.
But I always sparkle
Just for you.
I'm a little firework
Up in the sky.
I dance and I shimmer
Way up, up high
The only other firework song i can think of it star spangled banner.... Stupid American.

ReplyDeleteWhen I see fireworks, I always think of the "Wishes" song at Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Thanks so much for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily have a favorite fireworks song, but I love most patriotic songs, including America the Beautiful, the Star-Spangled Banner, My Country Tis of Thee, and so many others. They don't mention fireworks, but are part of my Fourth of July celebration.
ReplyDeleteI don't know any fireworks songs, but your stitching is fabulous! one of my fav childhood memories is watching fireworks by the ocean :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't is funny that the first thought was The Star-Spangled Banner..... I think its the song that's played a lot around the 4th. Thanks for the give away of your talent.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Vicki
I like that the design with the 3 fireworks also looks a little like a small bouquet of Queen Anne's Lace. They're all super pretty!
ReplyDeleteLove them! MY parents live near the fireworks hub of a reservation, so growing up, fireworks sort of lost their excitement. Now that I have kids, they've regained it. Beautiful work, thanks for offering the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteour local classical + news station plays music coordinated with the fireworks, pretty cool! but I really like watching them in the quiet and listening to the oohs and cheers
ReplyDeleteBwah! I can't think of a single fireworks song.... I always loved listening to the booms that would come after the spray of sparkles would hit the sky. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhen I think of fireworks, I always think of the Overture from the scene in V for Venetta, but I guess those aren't fireworks... but that's what I always think of. The hoops are so lovely!
ReplyDelete1812 Overture

The Star-Spangled Banner
ReplyDelete...and the rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air...

ReplyDeleteStar Spangled Banner - a classic.
ReplyDeleteNational athem. Would love to see what you stitch at night outdoors as you mentioned in last post. Linda gerig
ReplyDeleteI don't think I ever knew there were any songs about fireworks, so I had to read the comments to even realize my folly, but at least I remember all the ones mentioned! Thank you for the giveaway (and I promise to never sing Katy Perry)
ReplyDeleteDarn, the only ones I could think of was the Katy Perry one or all the patriotic ones that are played at firework displays. But thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any real favorite fireworks songs, but I do have a very favorite fireworks experience! The most beautiful and moving display I have ever seen was at Pearl Harbor, HI at the Naval Base there. The music and fireworks combined with the significance of the place had me in tears. It was just amazing!
ReplyDelete1812 Overture...Did you know fireworks originated in China, initially shot at the beginning of a new year to scare away evil spirits?!?
ReplyDeleteWhat a Wonderful World by Louie Armstrong!!
ReplyDeleteI love all things patriotic! Music, decorations, crafts, it's all great! Thank you for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteSomeone above my comment mentioned the 1812 Overture which makes me think "Overture, curtains, lights, this is it we'll hit the heights, and oh what heights we'll hit, on with the show this is it!!"
ReplyDeleteLove your embroidery Mollie :D
The National Anthem for sure

ReplyDeleteThe theme to the original Superman movie is always a cool one to hear when you watch fireworks.
ReplyDeleteFirestarter by Prodigy!
ReplyDeleteDisney World IllumiNations soundtrack. Best fireworks show I've ever seen!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I know any, so I googled it and I'd like to hear Handel's Music for the royal fireworks.
ReplyDeleteHi!!!! Beautiful give away!!!! My second favorite 4th song would be Carrie Underwoods Independence Day!!!! Lyrics let the weak be strong...1st would be Star Spangled Banner!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know any fireworks songs either, but I too vote for the Star Spangled Banner.
ReplyDeleteOther than KP I never heard another one...
ReplyDeleteThese will go perfect with a wall hanging I am making based on Toby Kieth's "American Soldier"!! Thanks for the opportunity!!
ReplyDeletei love the 1812 Overture
ReplyDeleteLast year I used the songza app that had some fun patriotic/fireworks playlists.
ReplyDeleteYour work looks lovely. Hope I win.
I love the 1812 overture too I don't know if I am getting entered though-it just keeps spinning-I should be #60
ReplyDeleteI too think of the 1812 Overture when I see fireworks in the sky.
ReplyDelete1812 overture's my favorite. V for Vendetta all the way!
ReplyDeleteI grew up watching the fireworks on the military installation where my dad worked. We would always sing the Star-Spangled Banner before the show, so now I always think of the national anthem.
ReplyDeleteAll I can think of is the star spangled banner. haha
ReplyDelete(smjohns63 at yahoo dot com)
those are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe Overtune song always reminds of the Alton Towers adverts growing up
ReplyDeleteI always associate the 4th of July and fireworks with Neil Diamond. Corny, but he's always played in our hometown during the fireworks show, and I look forward to it every year.
