mollie makes care packs
I never went away to school, so I never really got care packs. Other than, you know, the things that were a part of everyday life that showed me how much my parents care about me. That's worth so much...but happy mail care packs carry a certain amount of excitement, ya know?
Well, when Katie sends me my Mollie Makes magazines, she always includes a few little goodies, and it's like getting a care pack! She knows I have a weakness for Percy Pigs, so this package was especially lovely. And how about those fairy cake (cupcake) cases? They actually match the artwork on the mug that I bought in London...amazing!
Amid the fun surprises, I was eager to flip through the issues of Mollie Makes. Because of the way I've set up my subscription, I get them a little late (so Katie gets a chance to check them out too!). Issue 21 came out just before Christmas, and I was anxious to see this:
I was invited to create a new hamster pattern for Mollie Makes readers, and this fluffy teddy bear hamster was what I came up with. He's very much like the hamsters I had growing up...I loved their long fur and they they were always a bit on the slow side. It made them so much more fun to play with and hold.
Thanks to Katie for the treats, and thanks to Mollie Makes for letting me join in your crafty fun along the way!

That is awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat is very cute, I will have to keep an eye out for it when I get Mollie Makes on my iPad (^_^)
ReplyDeleteSooooo cute! I love your hamster pattern! I've been meaning to check out 'Mollie Makes', but I haven't had a chance - thanks for the reminder! those owl gloves on that cover are to-die-for! :)

thanks! it means a lot to have my work recognized!
DeleteI love Mollie Makes magazine... I live close to you (you're in Illinois, right?)... Do you have someone ship them to you every time one is released? I can't figure out how to get a subscription without paying an arm and a leg. And silly Joann's has had them 10% off for awhile so I can't use my coupon on them. Help? Also, love your work - already talked about you in my blog, btw! :)

Yes, I'm in Illinois! My friend and I have a bit of a magazine swap going. I set up a gift subscription for Mollie Makes for her in England, and she has one set up for Uppercase sent to me here in the States. We each read what comes to us and then mail them on. It's a nice set up and saves us both a bit of money, even though it delays when we get our magazines.
DeleteI know what you mean about the 10% sale! Drives me crazy! (and I think they know very well what they're doing...grrrr...)
And oh my! I love the tree you made from my pattern and that you gave it away on your blog! Thanks for sharing the Wild Olive love!
I know... C'mon Joanns! Get those mags off-sale! I saw a few new crochet ones I have to get my hands on, too... *sigh*
DeleteAnd YES! Your tree pattern was amazing. Seriously - I am a long-time lurker! I just found some ribbon and I am going to make those felt mittens soon, too! You are so talented! Keep up the beautiful creative work! What would do without you and Attic24 for inspiration? ;)
PS I live in Grayslake - North suburbs? By Great America?
I'm down in the Fox Valley area, but we go to church in Lake Zurich, where my dad is children's pastor...so not too far from you!
DeleteThank you so much for your kind words. It makes me very happy to be included as inspiration with Attic24. Her crochet work is so cheerful! She definitely gets me wanting to pick up my hook...
If you ever do, our little crochet guild chapter sometimes meets in Round Lake to "hook" together! You're welcome to come - always! Next one is Feb 22... but I understand it's really far for you! I think that you had one time where you met up with people last year or what not to stitch... We should all meet up one day... although I may stitch AND hook! :)
DeleteYes I've been a fan of it too - I get it on my iPad because that's the only way to get it in Canada without paying an arm and a leg (or being issues behind-which I don't really want to do. I loved seeing your work in there - but surprised they didn't send you a copy of the issue for your contribution. How fun to receive a care package like that
ReplyDeleteGrr. I don't have an ipad. :( Any other way? Can you get it on a regular computer?
ReplyDeleteMuito gracioso! Parabéns!
ReplyDeleteMollie Makes AND Wild Olive? Two of my absolutely favorites! :) Fantastic work Mollie!
