we're praying
We are currently in the season we call Lent. It's a time of preparing our hearts for Easter, and it's a good time to make a change in your life. As Ann Voskamp put it, "Lent isn’t about forfeiting as much as it’s about formation." This Lent season (and hopefully the days, weeks and months following), I want to spend more time in prayer, and I'd like to invite you to be a part of it. Sundays on Wild Olive will (at least until Easter) be prayer posts. Please feel free to leave a comment with any prayer requests you have.
Today as we pray, I want to share a praise. This might sound silly, but my praise this week came in the form of a medical bill. With the doctor's appointments and procedure that I had on my eye, I've been holding my breath, worried and wondering how much this would all cost. (Being self-employed, my insurance isn't always very helpful.)
My statement came, and it was far less than I ever would have expected. As in, half of what I was prepared for! It's not often that you feel blessed by a bill, but I was, and I'm thanking and praising God for being present in these kinds of things.
Please continue to post your prayer requests and your praises too!

Great news about your bill! That does not happen often!
ReplyDeleteI would like to ask for prayer for a woman named Carol in PA, USA. She was diagnosed with lung cancer. She had taken care of her husband who eventually died from it so she knows the pain ahead.
Also, this week I made 2 quilt blocks for a 4 year old girl dying from cancer. Her name is Shannon and she is being moved to hospice care. Please pray for strength and peace for her and her parents.
Thank you for turning your blog to prayer on Sundays. It is truly a beautiful thing to do.
Maria
Praying for strength and peace to all who have been touched by cancer....Carol, Shannon and her family.
DeleteMollie, that is a great news and praise God for always taking care of us! :) I will be keeping Carol and Shannon in my prayers! I would like prayer for my mom, Sheri, who is having mental health problems. Please pray for God to heal her mind and give her strength through this time. Please pray for me as I help her through this time.
ReplyDeletePraise God for always being loving and faithful!

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to celebrate the Lenten Season and to help prepare our hearts for change. Thank you for dedicating your Sunday posts to prayer and for sharing. What a great idea! I think I am going to embroider, "Shhhhh....We're Praying".
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful, and I'd love to see your embroidery!
DeletePraying for all of you this morning. I have a praise item. My dear friend just (and I mean JUST) delivered her first baby. Ian, named after the father's dad who passed a few years ago, is a healthy boy - but gave his mother 11 hours of labour and an emergency c-section. Mom is doing well, but exhausted. Pray that she will regain her strength and that the family will all be healthy.
ReplyDeleteGood news! Blessings on all the new family.
DeleteFinancial stress is making my depression worsen. Please pray for me to remember the good in my life and that this too, shall pass. Thank you.
ReplyDeletePeace to you.
DeleteI am continuing to pray for all that have request here each Sunday. I also have to give thanks and praise because my son, who's company closed it's plant 2 years ago has a new job! He and his wife did open a sports store during that time, but have not been able to pay themselves as of yet and did not have medical insurance. So this is indeed a wonderful blessing for them.
ReplyDeleteAlso our little 14 yr old Pom went into heart failure yesterday and today you almost would not know she was ill. She is a fighter. This will probably take her in the next 6 months to a year, but God has given us a little more time with her. He is so good! Blessings to everyone! lin lbprich@bellsouth.net
I want to thank god today for the restful, peaceful, calm weekend we had. I just want to do my best with this life and continue to grow everyday. You are all in my prayers. I am very happy for you and your bill Mollie.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your prayers.
ReplyDeleteI prayed to God, to cover every single family with joy, peace, love and health.
Wishing a blessed week for us.
Mollie, What good news about your medical bill. Praise God! I again ask for prayer for my family....my daughter is having mental health issues and my son (husband and father of three children) just found out that he is being furloughed once again from his teaching job at the end of the year. This is the fourth year in a row for him because of budget cuts here in PA. Pray for a job for him and peace in his heart. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteI made a payment on a dental bill recently (goodbye, wisdom teeth!) and called them a couple of weeks after I got ANOTHER bill asking for more money. When I called they said to forget the bill and that they were actually going to issue a refund check because my insurance made a bigger payment than they were expecting. I was happy for days!! So happy about yours good news too sweet lady : )

Praise is hard in times of despair, but I'm trying my best these past few months! I'm battling leukemia (a brand new sort of challenge for me and my family), and I'm praising the fact that I'm surrounded by so many wonderful people. Friends, family, nursing support and complete strangers who are pulling for me. Thanks to the stars and back, new and old friends.
ReplyDeleteI'm pulling for you!
DeleteI have just found your blog today. Love it! I want everyone that has posted to know they will be in my prayers. Sandy
ReplyDeleteMighty God - We adore You and thank you for all the blessings we have been given. We know that during hard times it is difficult to see them so help us to recall them. There have been specific requests today that we lift up to You for you are able to give us peace, healing and comfort. As we go through lent may we ask for forgiveness and may we ever be thankful for Jesus saving us from out sins.
ReplyDeleteIn Jesus' name - Amen
I found peace in reading your blog today, and the posts by others. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea. Thank you for this.
ReplyDeletePraying God's love and peace on all.Praises are as important as prayers as that is how we let others know of God's love and care over his children. What a wonderful praise you shared today. Praying God gives you a week full of joy, laughter, and love.
