we're praying
We are currently in the season we call Lent. It's a time of preparing our hearts for Easter, and it's a good time to make a change in your life. As Ann Voskamp put it, "Lent isn’t about forfeiting as much as it’s about formation." This Lent season (and hopefully the days, weeks and months following), I want to spend more time in prayer, and I'd like to invite you to be a part of it. Sundays on Wild Olive will (at least until Easter) be prayer posts. Please feel free to leave a comment with any prayer requests you have.
When I'm not at my computer to see all of the names and situations though, I've been praying for all of you in a general sense. I know that God knows every need and hears even the prayers that are spoken in this manner. As I was reading through your comments and praying, and as I think about things in my life (I've been feeling especially tired and worn down lately), a verse came to mind. It required a look up, and I found that the New Living Translation put it especially well:
"I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27
With every request (yours and mine!), I feel that peace, true peace from Jesus, is needed. So I'm especially praying for that.
Now...time for more praying.

Love this idea! Thanks for being willing to do it. I'd love prayer for peace and joy during the many life transitions my husband and I are going through/will be going through the next year or two.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Sunday!
I love that you're looking for both peace AND joy. Prayers for both going up right now!
DeleteMollie, you are a blessing. Praying for your peace and renewed strength. Michaela Rae, praying for peace and joy for you and your husband. Transitions can be scary and exciting. My brother needs prayers for peace and a turning back to God.
ReplyDeleteTransitions are, indeed, hard. I will be praying for you. Also, for your brother that his faith may not fail and when he has turned around he will strengthen his brothers. Luke 22:32
DeleteThank you so much!
DeleteDonna - that is also my prayer for my brother. I will be praying for your brother as well. Michaela Rae -praying for the transitions for you and your husband. Mollie- praying that God will continue to bless you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen. I will pray for your brother, too.
DeletePraying for you and your brothers, Jen and Donna!
DeleteI'm thanking God for your idea.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for every single need put here, and, if you'll could, I would like to ask a prayer to my sister and I. We dont have a good relationship, and I know that's it isn't normal.
Thank you so much.
Paula, I understand the pain of this. Although for me, it is with my brothers. I will pray that God will restore your relationship.
DeleteAnn and gcmom, I have come to believe that when God talks about family it is about our Christian brothers and sisters at least as much as our biological brothers and sisters. It is my brother, too.
DeletePraying for peace in the situation.
Prayers of peace for you and your sister (and for you too, gccmom!).
DeletePraying for everyone, and hoping that everyone (myself included) finds peace, strength and joy. Especially my dear grandma, who left us on Wed. Thanks for doing such a wonderful series Mollie.
ReplyDeletePlease pray for dear friends of ours. They just delivered their baby and lost her a couple of hours later. Our hearts break for them.
ReplyDeleteThank you
I can't begin to imagine the pain. Praying again, right now.
DeleteContinuing to pray everyday for all these needs and the ones from previous weeks, especially for the couple that just lost their dear little baby. Peace be with you all. lin lbprich@bellsouth.net
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteMollie, I, too, am grateful you are doing this.
I am requesting prayers for two separate situations. First for my mother-in-law that had an accident at the gym while doing physical therapy and dislocated both arms. She is home and trying to take care of her 98 year old mother. I am helping when I can and am asking that she recieve a speedy recovery.
My second request is for a woman that has had her husband leave her and their 11 children. She is not recieving her child support and you can read her story at the blog "11 on My Own and Growing". There are all kinds of issues with the state's welfare program and her eligibility and taxes.
Pray is amazing and has a power like no other. Thank you for your help.
Maureen
Thanks, Maureen. Prayer does have an amazing power, and I'm praying for both of these!
DeleteI, too, am praying for these requests as they are put up. Please continue to pray for our daughter as she works through some issues.
ReplyDeleteYou are so very sweet. I love to check in on your blog when I can. We have 4 children 7 & under so we're praying for peace a lot around here.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for your prayers last week. Tim was offered a job - not full time but it pays well and is in the evenings only so he can continue to look. I will be praying for everyone here.
ReplyDeleteThis praise brought me such joy this week! Thank you for sharing this with everyone here!
DeleteMollie, thank you so much for your inspiring and uplifting words here on this blog. I am praying for all these requests. We are praying for patience, and compassion for our family. God Bless.
ReplyDeleteMollie, thank you for doing such a blessing of a post! What an amazing God we serve, and when we come together in prayer, He is always there, listening to every single request. I will be lifting up all these prayer requests to God. I would love prayer for patience, discernment, and joy during these transitions/trials that my husband and I are going through. May God bless each and everyone of you! xo Heather
ReplyDeleteThank you, Heather. Keep seeking Him, and He will continue to bring you through. Praying for you!
