I've been on a Little House on the Prairie kick lately. It'll find its way to the blog soon...

I love those books. Such happy memories reading them as a child, and again (and again) as an adult. I love Garth Williams' illustrations. The illustrations I remember most are from "On the Banks of Plum Creek"-- Laura poking at the badger (? I think it was a badger) with a stick, and Laura holding on to the wooden bridge when she fell off into the creek.

Oh my, that exact chapter is my all-time favourite part of all the Little House on the Prairie series! I remember reading it when I was little, and wishing we had maple trees and that it snowed as much where I lived as in the books!... I hope you're enjoying the book as much as I did - they're absolute classics in my eyes :) x

  8. I loved these books so much as a child... and the tv series, too.
I'm so happy that they are still so popular.

  11. Love! I read all the books last December as a Christmas treat. I relished in all the descriptions of cooking, building and making things. She wrote such a great piece of history down!

  12. I read the series for the first time last year. I remember reading some as a little girl, but I don't remember the whole thing. It coincided with my sister watching the entire series of the television show, so we are both rightly obsessed with Little House on the Prairie at age 28.
