I need to use ric rac
This morning I looked at this ric rac that I have, and thought, I need to make something with this. I mean, who doesn't love those little wavy lines of trim? They are like a soft chevron. Classic, but trendy.
I also have some larger ric rac with pretty designs, and even larger still of those.
So...what should I use my ric rac for?

I bet you could sew the larger ric rac together length-wise and make coasters, square pot holders or even trivets. It seems like it would hold up well to heat or water. Just an idea...
ReplyDeletehow cute! I didn't even know ric rac comes with designs!
ReplyDeleteI just bought a bunch of ric rac yesterday, I have no idea what I will use it for but it was too cute to pass up. :D
ReplyDeleteOur family motto: "Google it."
ReplyDeleteI have a bunch of this as well and no project to use it for. Hopefully someone has some good suggestions!
ReplyDeleteAprons and matching pot holders!
ReplyDeleteI use it to make vintage style pillowcases. I learned how to make them from a blog that, unfortunately, is no more, but the link is still good! It was called Pleasant View Schoolhouse.

I actually bought a little bit of ric rac today, because I found this tutorial: http://thecraftingchicks.com/2011/03/rick-rack-rosettes.html
ReplyDeleteI was going to suggest as a trim to pockets like these shorts:

I am obsessed with ric rac and polka dots, so I'm your newest follower. Just seeing the picture of polka-dotted ric rac makes me happy. Please come visit me at my new blog, which is called, well, are you ready for this? Ric Rac and Polka Dots. I'm brand new but have lots of fun stuff planned to share with everyone. I hope to see you there! Julie
ReplyDeleteWe have a really cute bandana at my work that has ric rac on it, but for $18, I decided to make one myself. I mean, the one in the ad is literally a hemmed square with ric rac on it. It's not even double sided. http://www1.macys.com/catalog/product/index.ognc?ID=554810&CategoryID=31479#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D51
ReplyDeleteDIY for the win!!
How about yet another rickrack flower tutorial? http://www.craftstylish.com/item/46548/how-to-make-a-rickrack-brooch-for-mothers-day

"Pretty Little Potholders" uses rickrack in a few different ways. For example, this butterfly has rickrack antennae: http://www.flickr.com/photos/patchworkpottery/534129166/
ReplyDeleteI made it and it was very cute, but VERY thick to sew through.
