Did you know that you're awesome? You are. I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the amazing thoughts and ideas and suggestions that you left me regarding pens and pencils for embroidery. Your help is so wonderful!
May I ask for some more input? I'm working on some new ideas, and would love to hear your thoughts and suggestions.
This is gnome that I've sketched up for some backyard illustrations. Think plastic flamingos, tire swings, etc.
And this is to go with some carnival midway illustrations. Think games and cotton candy and such.
Both of these are ideas that I've been tossing around for some time. I have some sketches of fun objects that go with these, but I'd like more, and I'd really like to hear from you. Because, you know, you're awesome.

It is confusing that the gnome's face is not where faces go. It took me a while to figure out that the picture was supposed to be a gnome hat, above a gnome beard face, with little gnome overalls. I think he would be much happier with his eyes/mouth in the face area.
ReplyDeleteHaha! This is a frequent conversation at my house. It's actually the reason that I rarely create things that already have faces...because the idea is that the object itself (in this case a garden statue) has a face.
ReplyDelete(oh, and duly noted)
I understand where you're coming from/what you're trying to achieve. I showed just the picture to my husband, without the blog post, and he couldn't figure out what it was. I think this would either be one to skip, or to go against your normal way of doing things.
ReplyDeletePicnio tables, w/wo umbrella, bird baths, princess house/boys clubhouse w/wo slides, BBQ grill(with appropriate apron and burger flipper and possible a "gnomy" chef's hat???? (not sure if that's possible to draw), apron is though)
ReplyDeleteputt putt golf, volleyball, croquet, badminton, slip-nslide, wading pool, big pool, diving board, grass skirts, flower leis, cute drinks(tea of course, hee hee) with umbrellas, horse shoes, trikes, bikes, scooters, skates, skateboards, want more?
I just looked back up at your image, grass skirts would be hilarious!!!! want more ides for your miday theme...............my absolute favorite thing from the midway......funnel cakes, mmmmmmmmm! but I've got more ideas if you want them
ReplyDeleteI like the carnival idea. :) I don't think I've ever seen carnival themed patterns!
ReplyDeleteeee so many awesome ideas!
ReplyDeleteI agree w/Wendy that it's a little confusing at first but knowing your style I can see it. It will probably help if there is color compared to just this sketch.
LOVE the midway theme. Gold fish bowl? Milk Bottle Toss? Water ballon/gun/ race horse type thing. Duck pond. - just rattling off ideas.
Can't wait to see them!
For backyard- Sprinkler? Sandbox?
OOH Chedder, love the sprinkler, sandbox ideas too!!!! Don't know if Mollie's head is swirling with ideas but mine is!!!! I have no time for distractions!!! I must go back to what I am supposed to be doing, not thinking about gnomes.
ReplyDelete(:(
FLAMINGO'S!!!! I read the Lumby Series books and it had a Flamingo called Hank!! So..I would love a flamingo!! No cats, bear, owls, dogs or turtles. These are so over done!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at 'gnome'....
ReplyDelete:)
Do you know about tire swans? http://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/tire-art-swans/
They would be cute, to go with the flamingos.
Lots and lots of flowers. Or food - food is always a winner in my book ;)
I'm sorry I'm not more help - I'm having a mental block :)
I think anything you create is adorable! I especially love gnomes and carnivals!
ReplyDeleteBackyard ideas: an arbor, a Mrs. gnome, bird bath. I kind of agree that the gnome's alterna-face is a bit weird, but maybe if it were in color ...
ReplyDeleteMidway ideas: cotton candy, balloons, a ferris wheel, clowns?
Clowns are scary!
