stitch swap

The first ever Wild Olive Stitch Swap is underway, and we're getting ready to send out some embroidered happy mail!

Guidelines

• Finished embroidery should be in a 4" hoop, prepared for hanging.

• This swap is open to all, so you should be prepared to mail your embroidery internationally.

• You are welcome to include a little something extra, but it is not required. Please spend no more than a few dollars.

• All pieces should be mailed by March 31, 2012.

Questions

Q: What does "prepared for hanging" mean?
A: Think of how you might want a piece to ready to hang in your house. It might be in a plain hoop with the fabric edges gathered in the back, maybe the hoop is painted, perhaps even a backing. Just so long as the embroidery is "finished".

Q: Can I use cross-stitch, machine embroidery, applique or other embellishments?
A: This is hand embroidery swap, but you can add in other techniques in addition to your hand embroidery.

Q: Can I use transfers and patterns?
A: Yes!

Q: Will my information be kept private?
A: Yes. The only person I will share your name/address with is the person who is mailing to you.

  1. Could you post a 'how to' on preparing embroidery for hanging? I've never done that before.

  2. Yes. I plan to post about framing and hanging on March 14, which will still give you a few weeks before the mailing deadline.

  4. I can't remember - are we supposed to keep our Recipient a secret, or can we communicate directly with them?

    1. I'm keeping it a surprise for the person I'm stitching for. I think that if you're going to be sharing photos of your work before you mail it, it's more fun to not tell who you're sending to. But really, it's up to you!

  5. I did not get info on my persons favorite colors/motifs. Did you decide to skip that part or did my person not fill it out?

    1. Not everyone filled in their favorite colors or motifs, so if it's not listed in your partner email it means I don't have it. It just means a bigger surprise for them!
