My latest just for fun project has been these little illustrations that I call Cinema Snackers. There's Petrified Popcorn, Gritty Gumdrops, and Stuck-up Soda. Now that they have made it from paper to screen, their next destination will be on buttons, and more.
just a snack...

scouting the backyard...
I know that I've been a bit obsessed with this whole hand sewing thing lately, but at last, the first little creature is finished. I gave this turtle to Anna for her (20th--an odd choice, I know) birthday, and she loved him. He's since been named Scout and has been out to lunch (where the gift was shared), shopping (following lunch), exploring the backyard (photo shoot!), and checking out both of our desks.
My next crafty project is already underway, and involves some fun buttons coming soon!!!
a happy birthday wish...
...going out to my wonderful sister, Anna. Who doesn't read this blog. Who will only hear this if she comes and reads over my shoulder. But a happy birthday to her anyway...
Love you sis!
Love you sis!
slowly but surely...
So here's my turtle, starting to come together. Okay, not actually my turtle. It's a gift. And it needs to get done soon. Stitches that I'm not all that thrilled with stay in place because, who has time to rip it apart? Instead I convince myself that they wonky stitches add character. They do, right? I hope that the soon-to-be-owner of this little guy (or gal) likes it, otherwise I'll be stealing it back!
a bit of a distraction...
Today, while I was, ahem, "working", the Wee Wonderfuls Hand-Sewing for Fun pattern cards called out to me. So as things loaded, and I was between jobs, I found myself tracing patterns to get started. That's still only as far as I've gotten (that and choosing which colors I'll use), but it's a start. These things are just so cute! Once I have pieces cut out, I'll show pictures...
more fun waiting in the wings...
I'm so excited, because I bought the new Hand Sewing for Fun patterns from Wee Wonderfuls. They are just so cute, and will give me a chance to use some of the lovely wool felt I have sitting around. The only downside is that it adds to the list of things that I want to work on, but never seem to have time for. Let's see, new needle felting supplies (untouched), fabric for a top from Simple Sewing with a French Twist, Japanese craft books, apron pattern, the list goes on...
Tomorrow I'll be spending some extended time in the car on the way to see my aunt. This would be the perfect time to work on something. Provided I don't get carsick...

for those behind on software updates...
As a graphic designer, I'm a fan of the Adobe company, and their fine products. I use them everyday. I'm behind on updating, but I'll get around to it. Well, the other day I discovered that I"m not as behind as I though. Someone I know was trying to use Microsoft Paint to create some artwork. Paint? It's useless! Why even bother? Today, however, I discovered that you can still learn all the ways to use Paint (even though they no longer update or offer help with the tutorial), and if you take the time, you can actually create some pretty cool artwork. As for me, I'll stick with my dear Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Even if it's a version or two out of date...
a word from the Lord...
Churches often have interesting saying on their signs, some are informative, some are harsh, and others are just plain funny. I once read that when a major news reporter went to meet with former Gov. Jesse Ventura, a local church sign directed them to their new meeting place. At churchsigngenerator.com, you can see pictures of many amusing real signs, as well as make your own. Lots of fun...give it a try!
