a missing button...

At my part time job we have a very fun maintenence guy named Fred. He gives my sister and I a hard time and we give him a hard time. It's great fun.

Anyway, I made these buttons for someone at work, packaged them up, and on the bag it said that it contained 22 buttons. Fred graciously delivered the bag to the person's locked office, then came back to give me a hard time. He told me that I shouldn't be stealing buttons from my sister's clothes...it isn't nice, and eventually she'd figure out that it was me. Funny.

So I made this "missing button button" for Fred. But if you need a missing button button, you too can own one. Just let me know if you're interested!

feeling apprehensive...

You've gotta figure, if you're a gingerbread man, you start out your life knowing your fate. Especially if you're a tasty gingerbread man. And so I created this apprehensive gingerbread. I sold a few buttons, but thought they would make a fun surprise to go along with a card.

And while I was on a gingerbread roll, I made these gingerbread that have already been chewed. These were made with this set of cookie cutters made by Fred, that my sister bought me for my birthday. I used this yummy recipe, and it made them nice a soft, then we decorated them with sad faces...you know, the ones that still had heads.

baking like mad...

Christmas has snuck up again this year, and although not all gifts are wrapped (some aren't even finished!), I've been hit with the baking bug. Within the last week I've felt the urge to make cookies, so I think that I now have 11 kinds made, with 2 more planned to do before Christmas.

The list:

Honey Cut-outs
Frosted Stars (mmm...my favorite)
Macaroons
Oatmeal Coconut Gumdrops
Snickerdoodles
Chocolate Crinkles
Spritz
Candy Canes
Gingerbread Men
Cranberry Drops
Pepperkaker
Gingerbread Dots
Peppermint Drops

The best part about it is that I've actually enjoyed all of the baking, so it hasn't felt rushed or like a chore. The bad part is that in the process, I melted my grandma's Tupperware. Guess she'll be getting a new pie container for Christmas!

only 10 days left...

Christmas is nearly upon us. Get yourself a Christmas music fix with some retro folksy Christmas songs at FaLaLaLaLa.com. I'm a big fan of the featured album, Swing Bells by the Glad Singers. Yes it's all a bit cheesy. But yes, I love it.

small steps...

Yikes! Another week has gone by! Where do they all go? Anyway, I move forward in making more of the fun things that I have so much fun in making. The next step will be to try listing more items on Etsy.com. But, seeing as I have much to do before Christmas, that will probably wait until the new year. In the meantime, I'm working on a few items as special requests for folks, as well as a few things for gifts that I'll be giving!

at last...

Grace. A great word. An amazing concept. A priceless gift. I am so pleased to say that God has given my family grace in the form of a sweet little girl named Grace. And after being with us for nearly two years, Grace is here to stay...the first adoption hearing happened on Thursday. Hooray!

I'm quite the proud sister (have been since the day she came!), and so I made Grace buttons to hand out. She's wearing one here, but I'll post a picture of them up close later. They're cute, but not nearly as adorable as the real thing!
