printable: spring flower paper chains

paper chain

In the process of creating today's post, I managed to frustrate both of my sisters. First, I asked my youngest sister to staple this paper chain together. She's crafty...I thought she would like that! No, she didn't want to. My mom made her do it anyway.

Then, I asked my other sister for help getting a photo. She said yes, but didn't appreciate that I wanted her to stand on a chair on our front porch where neighbors might see and think we're strange. We are strange, so I made her do it anyway.

Fortunately, my sisters still love me, and now we have a post sharing a printable for you to make some of this lovely (albeit apparently frustrating) spring flower paper chains!

I love paper chains, and with this simple print, I think they are perfect for decorating for spring! Download and print them out, trim on the lines, and start looping them together. We used a stapler this time, but one of our favorite ways to connect paper chains is with plain sticker dots. They are especially easy for little ones to use, and the dots look cute!

Do you decorate for spring at your house? What kinds of things do you like to decorate with?

  1. I loved paper chains as a child. But somehow my children don't feel the same about those cute circles of paper. Everyone here likes to decorate with fresh flowers. Since I like to sew this is the time when I am browsing the leno linens and handkerchief cottons and pulling out my short sleeve shirt and sundress patterns. After buttons and zippers are put on, it is the right time to parade in our new warm weather gear.

  4. LOVE IT--the chain and the trouble you went to to photograph it :) I decorate some for spring/Easter...my mom goes all out though--she has a wreath, a shelf of bunnies, eggs and a ton of other cheesy decorations--I see myself following in her footsteps--but I draw the line at the goose that gets an outfit change every holiday!

Everyone- Even if you don't want to make the chain, you HAVE TO bring up the file and see the full sheet of print! This is sooo pretty! Mollie, have you thought about submitting this to Spoonflower and having it made in to fabric? This would be a wonderful Spring print! A girl's sundress, an adult skirt, a very cute tablecloth! Even a great background fabric to embroider on! You are so talented, Mollie! Thank you for gracing us with another creation! :) I am finished with the exclamation points now...

I forgot to answer your question!- we decorate a bit for Spring- mostly for Easter specifically during the week leading up to it. We do the usual basket of dyed eggs, a paper bunny or two in the windows- and this year we will have a wonderful, cheery paper chain to drape around the dining room windows! But I do think Spring decorating happens mostly naturally outdoors with the bulb flowers popping up and blooming, and the new growth on the flowering bushes and trees- reminds us that the cycle of life goes on and anything is possible! Have a great day, everyone! ;)
