guest post project // teeny tiny super easy mice

Teeny Tiny Mice

I'm so happy to have a very special guest post today. I'll be back with a few thoughts at the end of the post, but for now, get ready to make some super cute mice!

Hello!

This is Susi from Tiny Toffee Designs! Today I want to show you how to make teeny tiny pocket mice. They were “born” with the plan to make Maths more enjoyable for my daughter by telling her little stories that involve numbers and help her count.

Supplies:

- fabric scraps
- linen scraps
- felt
- black and pink embroidery thread
- toy stuffing

Print out the template. The box in the lower left should measure 1" when printed at 100%.

1. Cut two body top pieces from linen and two bottom body pieces from fabric. Cut two ears from felt.

2. To make the mouse front, pin the front pieces of the top and bottom right sides together and sew with a ¼-inch seam allowance. With an iron, press seam towards the bottom piece. Repeat for the body back.

3. Embroider the face to the body front. For the eyes I made French knots but I can imagine that small beads would be an adorable option as well!

4. Fold the ears in half and pin to the head. The” inside” of the ears points outwards. Baste or secure with a few stitches in the seam allowance.

5. Pin body front and back right sides together. Sew all around the body with a ¼-inch seam allowance but leave a 1-inch turning gap at the bottom. Clip the seams. Trust me on that one, clipping your seams will give you a nice round result once you turn your mouse inside out!

6. Turn the mouse right side out, stuff and slip stitch the opening closed.

That's it! Admire your new little friend!

Thank you so much, Susi!

I love, love, love these little friends. They would be so perfect in Easter baskets, and I bet you could figure out how to extend the ear shape and make them into bunnies! Seriously, who could resist these sweet pocket pals?

    1. I'm so sorry the download isn't working for you. It does still open/download on my end, so I'm not sure why that's happening.

BUT, I can tell you that the pieces for the body are roughly 2 inches square, with rounded corners at the top for the head and at the bottom for the body. They are both the same shape, just turned.
