hoop-la magazine

hoop-la

Stitching friends, I have some very lovely news for you. There's a new magazine for us to love! Because I don't do much cross-stitch (although I'm working it into my stitching time these days!), magazines focused only on that aren't really my thing. And there are lots of wonderful crafting and quilting and sewing periodicals to enjoy...but I've felt like embroidery as a whole was left out. But no longer.

The first issue of Hoop-La comes out on February 6th in the UK. For those of us outside the UK, it will eventually make it's way to stores, or you'll be able to grab a digital copy. Hooray! For now, check out a preview below:

I've been so eager to tell you all about Hoop-La, ever since I heard it was coming. There's even a project in there from me that you may find familiar! Magazines work hard to come into existence, and especially to survive. While it's not known yet if this will be something you can subscribe to, wouldn't it be wonderful to have a magazine like this around for a long time? I'm really hoping that it's well-supported because I'd love to stack up piles of these issues!

  2. Oh wow, loving the look of this. I don't think there is anything out there like it at the moment. I may have to get the sewing machine out more :)

  3. Oh, it looks like a lot of fun! Though I have to ask...Why aren't these ever American? They're always UK, it seems; this never stops me from buying them, but it does seem odd. Regardless, I look forward to seeing it in person!

    1. I'm not sure, but it seems as though they have a more thriving magazine industry. American magazines have really been struggling. Like yourself, however, I'm thrilled to find these however I can!

  5. Very cute! I hope this make its way to the US soon. I'm not really into cross-stitching magazines, either & there really is very little in the way of embroidery periodicals or even features out there. More & more books, all the time, so hopefully it's a growing trend for the magazine world.

  7. I just ordered a copy! I already subscribe to Simply Crochet too, which is a UK magazine. I wish we had these magazines in the US so that we didn't have to pay so much for them. Our craft magazines just don't seem to be as good, what few we actually have. Thanks for sharing, I'm excited to get it! :)

  8. I'm SO excited for this! By some small internet miracle I have a project in there, too! It'll be my first published project so I'm pretty giddy. So excited to see the finished product and check out all the pretty projects!

FINALLY!! I gave cross stitch up years ago as it has no artistic creativity to it! You have to stay true to the pattern!

    1. I would try contacting them through their Facebook page maybe, and ask how you can get a digital copy (the regular magazine is sold out now). https://www.facebook.com/Hooplamag. I do know however, that they're planning the next issue now, so hopefully you'll be able to get a copy of that one when it comes out!
