Amazings

OH MY GOODNESS! I'M VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS!

Okay, I'll stop yelling. I hardly know where to start, except to say that something amazing is now online. And it's called The Amazings! It's about trying something old, learning something new, and connecting with your elders...the people who have a lifetime of experience.

If you're in the UK, you can take classes in person, but for the rest of us, there are video classes. Right now, there's a small selection, but they are adding one per week for the rest of the year (for a start!). I watched one of the courses (on making a hexagon quilt...I'm a little obsessed, you know), and IT WAS AMAZING!

Sorry, I didn't mean to yell again. Here's what I loved about the Make an Heirloom Patchwork Quilt class:

1. The information was thorough. The class covers where to get materials, the importance of good tools, some history of patchwork, plus all the steps for actually making the quilt. At times I would have liked to have seen more close ups of the work, but that was a minor detail to me.

2. The style is charming. This isn't anything like any other video class/tutorial I've ever seen. It's casual and relaxed, and a bit like going over to someone's house so they can show you something new. In fact, it is that, because the teacher (an Amazing) is introducing the process to someone younger (like me!). What you see in the preview above is the style of the entire workshop.

3. It's British. If you enjoy British television, an English sitting room, a cup of tea, and a delightful accent...you will love every minute of these classes.

I really think you should try one (or more!) of these online workshops, and I'm very pleased to say that The Amazings is offering you a free online course! Just click here to sign up and get your free class.

Expect to hear more about The Amazings, both from me and other sources, because I can tell that this is going to be a really important source for growing skills and connecting with some Amazing people.

    1. I love that you spotted specific prints! In fact, she references Laura Ashley fabrics quite a bit in the class!

  5. What a great idea! I've been taking a ceramics class with my husband's grandmother from a woman who's been teaching ceramics for probably 40 years! It's so fun to paint ceramics that are made from molds that were produced in the 70s!
