Mollie Makes Feathered Friends

Big news, friends! A new book comes out today...one that I've been waiting on for nearly a year. Why? Because it's the newest Mollie Makes book from Collins & Brown!

Mollie Makes Feathered Friends is a collection of new projects all featuring birds. Now, I'm not really a fan of real birds being close to me, but cute and crafty avians? I'm up for it! Especially when they are as sweet as the projects in this book. Take a look at a couple of my favorites:

Mollie Makes Feathered Friends

How amazing is this? It feels so classic. I'd love to make this, although it may end up a lifetime work in progress...

Mollie Makes Feathered Friends

This is definitely at the top of my list from Feathered Friends. So good!

Mollie Makes Feathered Friends

And this one? I like it a lot...because I made it! I might need to make another so I can have one hanging in my office, as this particular one now lives in England.

Mollie Makes Feathered Friends

From simple and swift to complex and carry-through-life, Mollie Makes Feathered Friends will make a lovely addition to the craft book shelf (shelves?) in your nest...er...home. You can order now from Collins & Brown (the US edition will come out July 1).

Or maybe you'd like to win a copy? C&B Publishing is giving away one Mollie Makes Feathered Friends book to a lucky winner! There are a few ways to enter, and the giveaway is open to international winners too! Thanks, Collins & Brown!

Enter below using Rafflecopter, and be sure to tell me in a comment how you feel about real birds. Are they beautiful from a distance, fun to keep as a pet, or best only when made of felt and stitches?

  5. I love birds, but I would never keep one as a pet. My favorite bird is the kookaburra. They make me happy, and I can't help but smile when I say it. Thanks for the giveaway!

  6. I love birds most of the time. There are a few birds that have taken to singing outside my window during the night and I am not too keen on them then! I always love birds in craft projects.

  7. What a fun giveaway! I have no interest in having birds as pets (except for my dream of having one of those tiny owls), but I otherwise adore birds. I think their colors and patterns are amazing and I love watching how they interact with the world around them.

  13. I like being able to hear the birds. I like making bird feeders for them in the winter. And that's close enough for me! However, those adorable felt and fabric ones? Those can be right next to me in my craft room.

I put a bird on it in Portland before the show came out. I'm that cool.

  24. I LOVE decorating with birds. I used to be a Vet Tech and we did a lot of work on birds, so I really learned to love them in real life too. I've also had a few as pets and would pass on that. They're MESSY.

  25. We live in the hills and hearing birds chirping outside my window is one of my favorite things. I don't think I could ever own one as a pet. Besides the fact that I already have 3 cats and a large dog, pet birds kid of annoy me. All the ones I've been around are squawky instead of chirpy. I would definitely let felt birds inhabit my home though. :)

I actually hadn't thought much about birds one way or the other until this last year. I have enjoyed watching blue jays, cardinals & some other funny lookin' birds with really long legs (lol) playing in our yard! And their songs are so pretty!

  44. I love most birds. A few weeks ago, I went on a raptor experience day where I flew a vulture, stroked an owl and held an eagle - it was huge and kept screaming in my face. I don't love the sparrow that wakes me up at 5am every day.

  45. My Mom is a huge bird lover, so I grew up liking them. My favourite are the chickadees!

I have 50 leghorn chickens (asked for 10) and 2 weeks ago adopted 17 other chicks from a petting zoo. They weren't "cute" anymore, but are growing up to be so cute and interesting! I also used to have a "pet" chickadee that would land in my hand and eat sunflower seeds (the others were to wild to land in my hand). We have canadian geese and ducks nesting around here, can't wait to see the goslings and ducklings swimming in the sloughs soon.

I like birds. They're smart, cute, and interesting. :) Your book looks so amazing, and I want to try every project!! :D

I make beaded jewelry and like making beaded feathers, and working with real feathers. Come visit me sometime (on the net.... Saskatchewan is probably to far. ;) )

  53. Birds can be fun! We used to have a bunch of chickens that were funny & they would lay green or pink eggs. I'd love to have more :) In the meantime, the projects in the book are adorable & I wouldn't have to figure out what to do with all the eggs.
