it'sa mario week

it'sa my brother...mario

Hey Pizanos! It's the Super Mario Brothers Super Week! (If you're a Mario fan, I hope you just started humming the theme song from Super Mario Brothers. If you need a little help, check out this fun acapella version!)

Actually, I'm calling this Mario Week (because it's shorter to type!), and all week long I'll have posts with patterns, projects and printables that celebrate this classic series of video games and the characters that inhabit them.

We're a family of Mario fans, and as evidence, I submit the photo above. This is my brother (now 19), who was Mario one day. It wasn't Halloween, it wasn't even really a costume. It was like he became Mario, and therefore, this is what he wore. Take note of the gloves! And we all still remember how we went to McDonald's and he played in the playplace and kept his Mario accent going the entire time. Oh yes.

So anyway, get your game ready to go, and be sure to share your links to fun and favorite Mario posts (yours or someone else's) so we can get inspired! Evil Moogle already put together some links, and I'm especially loving the Chain Chomp she found! (Oh, and if you're on Twitter, you can tag any tweets with #marioweek)

Ready? Press start.

I hope you won't object to the confused looks all week from those of us whose families never did the video game or playstation "thing". :-) Yes, I have a brother.

First time commenter, long time reader (at least for me ~6mos)

Love, love, love your work! Inspirational and cute! :)

Hey here's a joke that follows the theme (that you've probably already heard): What kind of pants do the super mario bros wear?

Denim denim denim (to the theme of the underground level... totally not as humorous via type - but you could "sing" it...) -__-

Looking forward to what you've created this week! Love super mario bros.

  7. I made my son a very similar costume when he was three. He is 6 now and still loves Mario.
