preparing for babylon

Babylon Prep

Each year, our church does something we call Family Bible Adventure. It's like vacation Bible school, but it happens at night and families participate together. I'm a single adult, working on the 4-day event with my parents and siblings, participating along...and I feel so blessed every time we do this! It really is so fun, and meaningful.

We're coming into crunch time, because it starts soon, so we've been busy getting things ready. We use Group's Babylon curriculum, but supplement with some budget-friendly extras. Take a peek at what we're working on:

Foam Cylinder Seal

Foam cylinder seals made from pool noodles. Slice 'em up, and add fun foam stickers! Roll on a jumbo stamp pad or some paint.

Hanging Garden Garland

Hanging garden garlands. Paper flower shapes (the Fiskars shaped punches are serious work horses when it comes to this!) attached to yarn. Easy enough for all ages!

Mosaic Bookmark

Silver mosaic bookmarks. Aluminum squares on neon card stock...simple, but fun! (Plus, you gotta love being able to add some neon into ancient Babylon. You know they would have loved it!)

The squares can be done with aluminum foil (we're using it a lot in our Marketplace crafts!), or this secret supply which I FOUND tucked away in our supply closet:

Babylon Prep

Muffler tape! It's already got a peel-off sticky back, so have just cut pieces out of it for the book marks. I have a feeling this isn't so cheap to buy (I could be wrong), but it was sitting unused for years, so I'm happy to put it to use!

I've also set up a Pinterest board with some of the other things we'll be making, so be sure to check them out. Whether you're church is doing Babylon or not, there's some fun projects there that I've collected!

Baskets of projects, and lots of set pieces are stacking up...things are getting exciting!

My church does Vaction Bible Adventure every year, and we do all our own curriculum. I think we've been doing it for eleven years now!
Anyway, I think it's so cool that you guys are doing this. C:
