a get together to stitch together

a get together to stitch together

Last September, a few folks from my area got together at a local coffee shop for a bit of crafting...it was so much fun, I decided it was time to do it again!

If you're in the Chicagoland area, you're invited to a Stitch Together!

When: Saturday, May 19th, 9am-Noon
(or something close to that!)

Where: 318 Coffeehouse, Geneva, IL
(within walking distance of the train station)

What: Stitching and crafting!

I'll bring a small craft for us all to work on, and I'll also be buying a round of fondue for everyone (yes, chocolate in the morning...318 is known for this stuff!). It's up to you to buy your own beverages...and if you want, you can bring something you're working on or a craft to share too!

We'll meet in one of rooms upstairs in the coffeehouse...and oh yeah...I should mention that this place is a few blocks from a massive needlework shop.

Got questions about embroidery? I'll be answering them! Want to meet some fellow crafters and bloggers in the area? This is a great place to do that! Just want to hang out and make something? Check, and check!

Mark your calendar, and then please, please RSVP in the comments section if you're coming! So excited to meet folks in person soon!

  1. I will be there (with my newborn in tow if that's okay)... I had no idea were a Chicagoland native! This makes me love your blog that much more! I've never actually embroidered before, but I just picked up my first embroidery hoops at a rummage sale last weekend in hopes of starting! :) I'm so looking forward to this event! Thanks for housing!!

  4. Well I just googled it and that is 8 hours from me so I don't think I will make it but I wish I could!

  7. I'd LOVE to be there! Unfortunately, I don't do well crafting when I'm tired, and after getting up in the wee hours of the morning to make the 7 hour drive I'd probably be pretty grouchy, too. You locals have a great time, though! I'll be thinking of you :)

  8. I've been waiting for you to do this again since I was unable to attend last year. I live in Naperville, so I'm super close...BUT, I will be showing some of my hand embroidered pieces in an art gallery opening in Rockford, IL that very same day. While I'm super excited for the art show, I'm disappointed I'll miss out on meeting you and stitching!

    1. Congratulations! We'll miss you, and will just have to plan on another one of these...maybe in the fall again? Yes, that sounds good.

  11. Oh Mollie,

(Sob, sob, sob, deep breath, sad squeaky voice)

I CAN"T come; PA is TOO far away!

(Dramatically throwing myself down and sobbing harder)

P.S. I hope you all have a great time and maybe it is a good thing I can't come because I would shop and shop and shop and shop...

    1. Donna,

Where in WV are you? There is no reason why we couldn't start something like this ourselves. Meet in a relatively equal distance driving area and do dinner or lunch, visit and stitch. I am about an hour north of Pittsburgh - How about you? It is more that stitching for a couple of hour in a fairly local coffee shop (which I would love by the way) but still feasible. My husband (then boy friend) used to do the same thing because of our long distance relationship. My e-mail is coryfamily@zoominternet.net. Feel free!

    1. Very cool idea! Video chat stitch-along! What do you say Mollie?

      Maureen

P.S. Man, have I had a lot to say today!

    2. A video stitch along would be so fun! I'll have to look into what all would be involved to make it work. I can't do it for this time, but maybe another date. Great idea!

  23. I'm super sad right now that I can't go!!! Unfortunately, I live in Evanston and don't own a car, so according to Google not only would I have a two hour trip to get there but I couldn't get there until 10am. (Unless I wanted to leave my place at 12am and then camp out at the Geneva train stop for seven hours. >.<)

Hopefully, next time you could maybe hold it closer to Chicago? Or even in Chicago?

    1. Hi Marie! I'm so sorry it won't work for you, but I completely understand because I also don't have my own car! I don't get into Chicago very often, so I'm not as familiar with spots closer to the city, but may have a possible idea for next time.

  24. Oh! Count me in. It's not too far of a drive for me and I'd love some stitching time.
