we're praying

We are currently in the season we call Lent. It's a time of preparing our hearts for Easter, and it's a good time to make a change in your life. As Ann Voskamp put it, "Lent isn’t about forfeiting as much as it’s about formation." This Lent season (and hopefully the days, weeks and months following), I want to spend more time in prayer, and I'd like to invite you to be a part of it. Sundays on Wild Olive will (at least until Easter) be prayer posts. Please feel free to leave a comment with any prayer requests you have.

Today is Palm Sunday. It's the day that we celebrate when Jesus was welcomed into Jerusalem. And it's had me thinking. I've been thinking about welcoming Jesus. We aren't always good at that. I mean, it's not too difficult welcome Him on Sunday mornings or special days, but what about the rest of the time?

I listened to a message online that talked about how the church year has Lent and Advent and other times, but also ordinary time. That's often the hardest. So how do we welcome Jesus into the ordinary time? I want to do that. So I'm praying and welcoming Jesus into my today...and hopefully my every day.

Will you join me? Hosanna!

  1. Mollie, an excellent idea and you are so right. Living with, for , like Jesus every ordinary day is the challenge, isn't it? I will pray for you and you can pray for me. Let Jesus be with us today and all of our tomorrows! And let us be with him.

Your post today really made me think...because I see that "ordinary time" in Church and literature all the time. I will pray that each of us remembers to welcome Jesus every day, because even though it is called "ordinary time" knowing Him makes it extraordinary time! Thank you for reminding us of that! I also continue to pray for the other request on earlier post.

Have a wonderful week. lin lbprichATbellsouth.net

  3. Thank you Mollie, for drawing our focus to the One who gave all. A habit I have tried to develop over the years is to pray about my day before leaving bed each morning, giving my schedule and plan for the day asking for wisdom and to make me a vessel of His love, mercy and grace through out the day. This has helped me to know I am walking the steps ordained for me for the day and made me more aware to be a light to those who don't know Jesus.

  4. I have asked for some prayers (and given many :)) this month and I have one last one: my wonderful husband's ex-wife has tentatively agreed to reach a settlement agreement for back child support. However, she keeps going back and forth and keeping us on a roller coaster. Please pray that we can reach agreement, get this paid and that it helps to heal the relationship between my husband and his daughter.

  5. I should add: My husband has been unemployed and underemployed for sevedral years. He has made an effort to pay his support - to the point of over 50% of his check going to his daughter. His ex-wife, however, has told the daughter that her father doesn't care enough about her to pay the entire amount (based on an income several jobs ago). My husband loves his daughter and wants a relationship with her, but it has been difficult.

Today, specifically for a bbsitter for Logan while his mommy works a few hours a week at Starbucks! With my back treatment it is going to be difficult for me to watch him as I do now! It is hard and painful now, but I need this to work and cannot be lifting and bending to pick up my sweet grandson!
