made for christmas

I try my best to create as many handmade gifts as possible, and this past year was no different. Here are the big handmade items that I gave on December 25th!

tab: stitched for my dad

My dad loves TAB, and my brother gave me the idea to embroider a can of TAB with a face. He loved it!

skirt: made for my sister

My baby sister received loads of tulle...in the form of a ballet princess skirt (idea found somewhere online!) and a mini canopy tent for her bed. (It's not hung yet, so no canopy pics!)

card-making supplies: made for my brother

My brother loves drawing, especially designing little trading cards. For his handmade gift, I pre-cut cards for him to draw on, and wrapped pencils with his name on them. They are all in a stitched pouch!

leg warmers: made for my sister

My sister Anna is now the proud owner of these leg warmers. I rarely knit because of how long it takes me...these 24" ribbed tubes took around 25 hours. Ugh. She's yet to have worn them, but she had better soon or I'm taking them!

chewy: made for my brother

My 17-year-old brother was so smitten with this Chewy plush that he's asked me to make more characters. The pattern is from Draw! Pilgrim, so perhaps I'll talk her into making more designs...

batcat: made for my brother

But the real star of Christmas was this guy. Bat Cat. He's a character from in the Charlie and Lola television series, and my brother Max just loves him. He creates his own stories to go along with the character, and was completely stunned when he opened this gift.

There's no pattern for this, it was purely based on images from in the DVDs, and I'm quite proud of how he came out. There are some things I would do differently next time, and that may still happen. Why? Because would you believe that this little fella has only been around for a few weeks? Look closely and you'll see that his fleecy face is already well loved.

It does my heart good to see the handmade things I've worked on be loved and treasured. But even when they aren't (because we all know that happens sometimes), I'm happy to be putting time and love into the gifts I give.

  16. Oh my goodness I love Charlie & Lola! Obviously they came out long after I was a kid, but they're adorable and so is the cat you made. And the wookie looks fantastic. You're such a crafty miss.

ps. I totally want to make a Sizzles plush from C&L now--mainly because I love the name.

Hi, I'm a complete stranger sorry, but I've been searching the web for Charlie and Lola Batcat merchandise and no-one makes any!

I would fully understand if you're too busy, but would it be possible to commission a Batcat from you? My son is two and loves Batcat more than anything.
