vintage craft: mollie painting

I've mentioned before that my dad is a huge source of inspiration for me, and today I want to show you an example of his art. I hesitate to blog about this under the "Vintage Craft" category, because it was made when I was little, but I suppose I've hit that age...

This is me as a 2 or 3 year old. It is the epitome of my dad's artistic style, which is fairly cartoon-ish, and yet it really does look like me. (Someday I'll find some great photos of my to prove it to you!) I have very red cheeks even now, and the coloring on my face in this is pretty accurate. (It's one of the things about my face that makes me crazy!)

I definitely remember seeing pictures of me with these jammies, and we had a house full of teddy bears. So whether this was my bear, or just added in to go with my parents' collection, it makes sense. The fuzzy slippers are a whole other thing. I don't remember them at all, but am told that I loved them. Go figure!

The bow on there is original 80s ribbon, and I have no plans for removing it. This little portrait (done in acrylic, I think) hung in our family room for the longest time, but my mom has since given it to me to hang in my office/workspace.

I'll love it forever!
