contact paper stickers...

When I was little, I remember my mom using clear contact paper frequently. She used it for a lot of school things (we now have a laminator...such fun!). But mostly I remember it being not so fun to work with, and that the patterned contact paper was NOT something that we would ever buy. Now I'm really loving it. Especially the wood grained kind, and especially for making stickers. I have a wee "wooden" heart on my computer, but I needed to take it further.

painted

So why not paint some stickers? I wasn't sure how they would work, but they did! I used regular acrylic craft paint, and let it dry for a while, but yay!

peeling

Trimmed them, and peeled the backing...

stuck

And then stuck them on!

markered

I also tried making a teeny one with permanent markers. Also fun, but clearly a different look.

Trust me, you so need to make some of these!

  2. I bought the darker wood version at Wal-Mart. You get a huge roll for less than $6. I think I've also seen some at the dollar store.

it's freaky to see you post about this...
last week i used white contact paper and acrylic paint to make our giant 12-passenger vans look like Hawaiian tour vans!

turns out, contact paper does more than line shelves!

  5. Karey, that is so cool! Does it come off okay from the vans? Because my family has a 15-passenger, and I would love to do this and surprise folks...as long as I don't cause too much trouble!

  6. I always have a problem with the contact paper not sticking to a surface after a while. I made a treasure map style dotted line in my kitchen, starting at the entrance and ending with a huge X in front of the stove, and it's been there almost a year, but it's starting to come peel up, and I made some stickers for a door, and they came right off really quickly.

these are really cool. I have never seen this over here in australia, not that you can't get it, but it would be fun to play around with. I like it though :-)
