trying out a cross-stitch chart...

Crestfallen Coin Purse X-Stitch

I've never made a cross-stitch chart, but since it sounded fun to more than just me, I figured I ought to give it a try. So, feel free to use this chart. And let me know if this is a good way to display them. I've looked at some examples of other charts, but still feel a little in the dark.

  1. at 32, you'd think i could do cross-stitch. i seem to be unable to do them, but my 9yo daughter has already laid claim to this project. :)

  3. Your chart looks easy to read. The trick to creating easy to read charts is to make sure that the "x"'s are clearly different for each color. For example, if you are charting a tree with a few different shades of green in the leaves, you may want to use other colors besides green to illustrate the cross stitches in the chart. Simply include a color chart with the actual color and an image of the finished piece to show which colors go where. You've done a good job with your chart, so far.

  5. Mary: I suppose it does look a little strange this way! It's a coin purse (Crestfallen Coin Purse, to be exact). You can see it stitched here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/molliejohanson/4398979751/
