the red cups...

the red cups

I love this time of year...when Starbucks switches to red cups. This is really what starts the holiday season. So today I had my first red cup. A gingerbread latte.

But...can someone please tell me what has changed about these? It didn't taste quite as I remembered. And worse, there were chunks of something in it. Sort of like the ones that were in the gingersnap latte that I once tried. (I do hope that it's fresh ginger.) It's as if they've taken the gingersnap and called it gingerbread. Well, they aren't the same.

There should never be chunks in your coffee! (Similarly, Caribou should NOT put actual nuts in their turtle flavored coffee!) This is also right up there with when they rearranged the furniture...Hmm...I think I'll be discussing this with my local Starbucks' employees...

  1. I work at a Starbucks, and the way we make the gingerbread is the latte with gingerbread syrup, then with whipped cream and nutmeg on top. No chucks this year, but last year it was chunks of ginger on there, like what you get with sushi, so maybe the one in your area is just carrying that on this year instead of the nutmeg! That is the best I can offer! I would recommend a pumpkin spice latte made with eggnog for a holiday treat, personally :) -Rachel

  6. Mollie, last year when they had the ginger chunks in the Gingerbread Lattes, we just asked them for the drink with no chunks. They were very accommodating! Not a fan of the chunks either, but am a fan of the Gingerbread Lattes. I believe Caribou starts their Christmas drinks on 11/12.

I always feel a bit silly that Starbucks red cups can make me feel so happy about it being winter... we even own a red cup ornament.. *coffee geek*
