the ikea craft department...
Do you have an IKEA near you? Does yours have a craft department? No? Well, the one by doesn't, technically, but I always find things that have crafting potential. Yesterday was fabric and towels. The fabric is a more obvious craft choice, but I've also gotten cork trivets and frames and who knows what.
We went searching for fabric after seeing large panels hung in the restaurant area. They were really stunning. Unfortunately, they didn't have all of the patterns we had seen. The black at the top was one of them, but the others that I liked were gone. But both my sister and I spotted the coordinating prints above. I liked the leaves, she liked the birds. So we got both to go together. I'm considering actually using a sewing machine to make some bags and maybe a top.
Then I found these towels. I'm really hoping that I will be able to embroider on them. (Fingers crossed!) They are a nice size, and very simple, which I like.
The best part about these finds is that the prices were right. The black fabric was my splurge at $7.99/yd. The other two prints were only $3.99/yd. And the towels? 49 cents each!
